Sometimes straight just doesn't fit 😁
Eikarparket í litla rísíbúð
There are rules for parquet installation: big planks for big rooms, small planks for small rooms, flooring direction towards the light source and in narrow rooms along the longer edge... all these rules make sense, in general. But sometimes it makes sense to break them.
Big-plank oak parquet in a small attic apartment: Aligned to the walls looked odd, no matter in what direction, but diagonal, aligned to the fish tank worked great! It made the space appear brighter, bigger and wider than before 😊

small task: repairing an old wooden stepladder.
making it safe and functional again without changing the original used look.
two crumbled pieces (obviously a bungled mending years ago) replaced with dyed and oiled larch wood.
several cracked wood pieces preserved, glued and partly supported with hidden screws.
all screws checked, tightened and glue added on critical joints.

recycling an old painted oak parquet:
removing paint and glue, roughly sanding to intensify the natural wood structure, glueing the planks together (floating on the insulation layer), sanding again, then dyeing with wood stain and finishing with linseed oil.
a true pleasure to step on this floor now :)
