Amélie Bigard’s “Dear Sh*tty Dreams” will Opening Thursday September 29th, 2022, 6-9 pm

The exhibition presents a series of new works created using her distinctive “icona” technique, a patient painting process of tempera on wood, continuing her investigation into the world of adolescence and the 'Anti-Hero'.

Like the pages of a diary, her solo show recounts the aspirations and disillusions of a generation that grew up in the shadow of a "plastic" imagery studied to perfection by consumer society; hyper-pop desires, embodied by dreamy and glittering toys, or even tv series and rom-coms always ready to offer us glossy collective and family models, all dreams from which every teenager will have to painfully learn to wake up.

Between anxieties and tenderness, Bigard portrays a lost and disenchanted contemporary generation; icons of uncertainty, all his characters seek refuge in fantasy or in the solitude of their own intimacy; imaginaries useful in keeping away the anxieties of a future that is too difficult to reach.

A show curated by Maria Chiara Valacchi
