New post (Fashion Portraits by David Seidner) has been published on VisitMilano.org
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of 10 Corso Como, the Carla Sozzani Galleria presents for the first time in Italy an exhibition by David Seidner, one of the leading fashion photographers of the 80s and 90s. The show, featuring exhibition prints by the International Center of Photography, includes a body of fifty photographs that trace his photographic research in its constant oscillation between fashion, portrait and art history. The earlier images document the couturiers Azzedine Alaïa, Chanel, Madame Grès, Jean Patou, Ungaro and Valentino. In 1980 he worked exclusively for two years with Yves Saint Laurent. David Seidner prematurely passed away in 1999 at forty-two, leaving a body of work that testifies to his personal survey on photography and art history, what he considered his “philosophical perspective.”

New post (Museo del Design) has been published on VisitMilano.org
Via Borsi, 9
After the success of its preview during Milan Design Week in collaboration with Borsa Italiana, Museo del Design 1880-1980 is now opening its door once again in the new location of Via Borsi 9 conveniently situated between the metro stations of Porta Genova and Romolo in the Navigli District of Milan.
The museum was originally founded in Ravenna in 1988 by Raffaello Biagetti and co-curated by Giovanni Klaus Koenig, Filippo Alison and Giuseppe Chigiotti with the clear goal of telling the story of the birth and evolution of one of the most important cultural and social phenomena of the last century: Design.
MUSEO DEL DESIGN 1880-1980 aims to represent the most crucial moments of the evolution of Italian and International industrial product design, highlighting nuances and contrasts through the different experiences that have generated contemporary design. The collection, was put together and curated with the clear aim of creating a sound didactic tool to teach the history and development of the sector and to guide the visitor on an imaginary voyage through the evolution of creativity applied to objects. The efforts of the founder and co-curators were strengthened by the help and vision of great names such as Dino Gavina, Ettore Sottsass, Ignazio Gardella and many other authors, who contributed to the realization of a “theatrical museum” where every stage is a scene, a chapter in a book, able to generate a consistent and unbiased vision, chronological and accurate in its references to the most important protagonists of world design.
Now, thanks to the vision of Musei Italiani, this collection has been brought to Milan so that the greater public, both Italian and International can appreciate and learn from this unique museum experience.

New post (Rossoneri (Till Dec 31)) has been published on VisitMilano.org
From 5 May an exhibition will be staged at the Mondo Milan Museum in memory of the great Cesare Maldini, the red-and-black legend who made sporting history during his time at the Club.
The Milanese artist Giovanni Cerri, a champion of the national tape art scene, will honour his city’s first team with six artworks portraying some of the most distinguished icons of the Milan world.
The artworks depict scenes ranging from the fans of the “South Stand”, represented as a long and flowing red-and-black wave (86×202 cm), to the “The Goal of Attila”, a tribute to the historic derby of 1984 and the extraordinary headed goal by Hateley, and “Casa Milan” a large artist’s impression of the new headquarters in via Aldo Rossi (140×160 cm).
Together with these three works of varying sizes the exhibition is completed by a mixed-media triptych, in memory of some of the undying heroes of Milan’s past: Nils Liedholm, the Swedish coach, player and not least master of Italian football. The unforgettable El Paròn Nereo Rocco, a multi-faceted character who vanquished his opponents in the trophies of the sixties, as well as the late Cesare Maldini who passed away recently but who will live on in the hearts of football fans the world over.

A wide selection of works realized between 1931 and 1981 from the great Catalan artist
The exhibition focuses on the importance the artist always gave to the material, not only as a useful means of learning new techniques, but especially as an end in itself. Miró experimented with unconventional media and innovative procedures, breaking the rules so as to arrive at the very origins of art.
