In buzzing Trastevere, Flake’s Design & Arredo brims with pottery, custom furniture and décor sourced from one end of Italy to the other. Behind the selection is owner Chiara Scaglia, an interior decorator and graduate of the European Institute of Design’s Rome program who founded the business in 2010, at just 21 years old, to help people bring that “Rome feeling” home. Today Scaglia serves a market of landscape architects, interior designers, set decorators, event planners and home cooks who love to host. For your kitchen table, look out for hand painted ceramics sourced from artisans from Deruta (Umbria) on down to Vietri (the Amalfi Coast).

What to look out for: The vintage ceramic plate collection emblazoned with Italian phrases and cheeky idioms like siamo alla frutta (literally, “we’re at the fruit,” but figuratively “we’re done” or “it’s all over”).
