Un colore, diverse espressioni.

La finitura laccata definisce il modo in cui una superficie incontra la luce. Nella versione lucida accoglie i riflessi e restituisce profondità al colore; in quella opaca li attenua, per una presenza più morbida e discreta.

Verde Mirto, Salvia, Pistacchio, Terracotta, Citrino: accostare i campioni permette di esplorare sfumature e abbinamenti, osservando come cambiano con la luce.

One colour, different expressions.

A lacquered finish shapes the way a surface meets the light. Gloss catches reflections, giving colour depth; matt softens them, creating a quieter, more understated presence.

Verde Mirto, Salvia, Pistacchio, Terracotta, Citrino: placing samples side by side reveals nuances and combinations, showing how they change with the light.

Design begins with a gesture.

Understanding how someone lives in their kitchen is a starting point for the project.

Do they cook alone or with others? What do they want within reach? Which objects are part of their daily routine, and which need a dedicated place?

These observations inform decisions about storage, work surfaces and the relationship between different activities.

For Effeti, this is a way to approach the kitchen as a space shaped around the people who use it.

Il progetto comincia da un gesto.

Comprendere come una persona vive la cucina è un punto di partenza del progetto.

Cucina da sola o insieme ad altri? Che cosa desidera avere a portata di mano? Quali oggetti accompagnano la sua quotidianità e quali richiedono uno spazio dedicato?

Sono osservazioni che orientano le scelte sul contenimento, sui piani di lavoro e sulla relazione tra le diverse attività.

La cucina supera i confini dello spazio tradizionale per diventare parte integrante dell’architettura e dell’abitare contemporaneo.

Gli ambienti dialogano, le funzioni si intrecciano, materiali e volumi creano continuità.

Ci sono progetti che appartengono a un’epoca e altri che aiutano a definirne una nuova.
Nel numero 293 di Ambiente Cucina, dedicato ai cinquant’anni di evoluzione del mondo della cucina, Misura — disegnata da Giancarlo Vegni per Effeti nel 1991 — viene inserita tra le nove cucine che hanno lasciato il segno.
Al centro del progetto, un blocco operativo dalla forma tonda: una scelta che non nasce semplicemente dall’estetica, ma dalla volontà di ripensare il movimento, l’uso quotidiano e la relazione tra corpo, spazio e funzione.
A distanza di oltre trent’anni, quella ricerca continua a raccontare un’idea di design per noi ancora essenziale: la forma nasce dal modo in cui viviamo lo spazio.

Some projects belong to their time,
Others help define what comes next.
In issue 293 of Ambiente Cucina, dedicated to fifty years of evolution in kitchen design, Misura — designed by Giancarlo Vegni for Effeti in 1991 — is featured among nine kitchens that shaped the way we live.
At the heart of the project is a circular operational block: not simply an aesthetic gesture, but a way of reconsidering movement, everyday use and the relationship between body, space and function.
More than thirty years later, that research still expresses an idea of design that remains essential to us: form begins with the way we inhabit space.

DESIGN CULTURE / 01 — ERGONOMICS

Una cucina non nasce soltanto da forme, materiali e finiture.
Nasce dal modo in cui lo spazio viene vissuto.

Distanze, proporzioni, percorsi e funzioni determinano la naturalezza dei gesti quotidiani e diventano parte integrante del progetto.

Per Effeti, l’ergonomia significa progettare lo spazio intorno alle persone, cercando un equilibrio tra libertà di movimento, funzionalità e architettura. //A kitchen does not begin with shapes, materials and finishes alone.
It begins with the way a space is lived.

Distances, proportions, movement and functions shape everyday gestures and become an integral part of the design process.

For Effeti, ergonomics means designing space around people, seeking a balance between freedom of movement, functionality and architecture.

MATERIAL NOTES / 01 — WOOD

Venatura, tonalità, lavorazione e rilievo modificano il modo in cui la superficie incontra la luce e dialoga con gli altri materiali.
Accostare, osservare, confrontare: è da queste relazioni che prende forma una palette e, progressivamente, l’identità di un progetto.

PROJECT / 01 — UNIKA

Un progetto in cui cucina e architettura dialogano attraverso materia, proporzioni e continuità visiva.

Il calore del Noce incontra la luminosità del marmo Bianco Carrara, mentre profili in alluminio e maniglia/gola in finitura titanio definiscono la composizione con precisione.

Una cucina Unika pensata come parte dello spazio che la accoglie, tra volumi, dettagli e materiali che costruiscono insieme l’identità dell’ambiente.

A project where kitchen and architecture come together through materials, proportions and visual continuity.

The warmth of walnut meets the brightness of Bianco Carrara marble, while aluminium profiles and handle/groove details in a titanium finish define the composition with precision.

An Unika kitchen conceived as part of the space around it, where volumes, details and materials come together to shape the identity of the interior.

FROM THE ARCHIVE / 01 — VOLA

Negli anni ’90, Vola nasce da una riflessione sull’ergonomia e sul rapporto tra il corpo e lo spazio cucina.
Gli elementi sospesi vengono portati a un’altezza più accessibile, ripensando gesti, funzioni e modalità di utilizzo.
Un progetto che racconta un principio ancora centrale nella cultura Effeti: il design non è soltanto forma, ma ricerca di nuovi modi di vivere lo spazio.

In the 1990s, Vola was born from a reflection on ergonomics and the relationship between the body and the kitchen space.

Its suspended elements were positioned at a more accessible height, rethinking everyday gestures, functions and the way the kitchen is used.

A project that reflects a principle still central to Effeti’s design culture today: design is not simply about form, but about exploring new ways of experiencing space.

Ideas evolve. The culture of design remains.
