JKD Collective is an audio+visual artist collective / production team.

JKD Collective was launched by Bruce Ikeda, co-founder and lead producer of W+K Tokyo Lab, an experimental audio+visual record label launched by Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo in 2003. Pursuing the marriage of audio and visuals to an ultimate degree, our mission is to introduce fresh, high-quality sounds from Tokyo to innovative visual creators around the world. Utilizing our exclusive connections and access to Japan-based sound creators, we specialize in original music production, sound design, curation, and licensing services. Through partnerships with top-tier visual artists, including core members of W+K Tokyo Lab and Rhizomatiks, a Tokyo-based group of prominent creative technologists, we also offer creative services for viral film, music video, motion graphics and animation production, as well as illustration, mobile application development, live installation and UI design. JKD Collective is passionate about being a catalyst for inspirational collaborations that achieve the highest level of fusion between music and visuals, and transcend the boundaries between art and commerce. We also aim to support and enhance the creative environment for the independent Japanese music community.

NEW PROJECT — ONMYOJI
JKD Collective is currently working on the visual and spatial audio production for Listening to the Manga “ONMYOJI” — The Universe of Gagaku Connecting Heaven and Earth, directed by Bruce Ikeda.
Bringing together Gagaku, state-of-the-art spatial audio, moving image and lighting, the project explores how the sensibilities of the Heian era of a thousand years ago
— sound, darkness, wind, time and presence — might be experienced in a contemporary space.

The visual team includes Shane Lester and Ko Kudo, while the spatial audio team includes Kohji Fujita and Takahiro Yamaguchi, who were also part of the sound team behind the Osaka-Kansai Expo soundscape.
At the heart of the performance is the album, music for “ONMYOJI”, created by Reigakusha and Brian Eno in 2000. More than 25 years later, the music will be presented as a live performance for the first time.

NEW PROJECT — 陰陽師
11月27日・28日、MoN Takanawa Box1000にて開催される 『漫画「陰陽師」を聴くー天地をむすぶ雅楽の宇宙ー』。

代表のBruce Ikedaが演出を担当し、JKD Collectiveでは映像・立体音響を中心とした音響周りの制作を手がけています。
雅楽、最新鋭の立体音響、映像、照明を融合し、1000年前の平安の人々が感じていたであろう、音、闇、風、時間、気配を現代の空間に立ち上げます。
映像チームには Shane Lester、Ko Kudo。立体音響チームには、大阪・関西万博のサウンドスケープにも携わった Kohji Fujita、Takahiro Yamaguchi が参加。
音楽の核となるのは、伶楽舎とBrian Enoによって2000年に制作されたアルバム music for「陰陽師」。25年以上の時を経て、今回初めて公演として立ち上がります。

大阪・心斎橋に4月25日にオープンした複合商業施設「Quartz Shinsaibashi」の大型LEDサイネージのために、常設のオーディオビジュアルインスタレーションを企画制作しました。

クォーツは、地球が何百万年もの時間をかけて生み出した自然の造形。その内部には、想像を超える長い時間の中で刻まれた地球の履歴が眠っています。本作品では、クォーツを単なる鉱物としてではなく、「地球の記憶媒体」として捉え、その結晶構造や時間のレイヤーを映像とテクノロジーによって可視化。建築と共鳴する動的な視覚環境として空間に実装しました。

For Quartz Shinsaibashi, a newly opened mixed-use commercial complex in Osaka, JKD Collective created a permanent audiovisual installation for its large-scale LED signage.

Quartz is a natural formation shaped over millions of years. Hidden within its crystalline structure are traces of geological time far beyond human imagination.
Rather than treating quartz simply as a mineral, we approached it as a “memory medium of the Earth.” Through moving image, generative systems, and sound, the work visualizes layers of time embedded within the crystal and transforms them into a dynamic visual environment that resonates with the architecture.

Realized in collaboration with many talented creators and partners mentioned above. If you happen to be in Osaka, we hope you will experience it in person.

万博プロジェクトを軸に、あっという間に駆け抜けた 2025 年も、いよいよエンディング。 寒さが増してきましたが、皆さまいかがお過ごしでしょうか。
日頃のつながりとサポートへの感謝を込めて、今年も JKD Year-end Party を下記の通り開催いたします。

今年は、万博という大舞台を共に乗り切った HIFANA の KEIZOmachine!、そして Hiroshi Watanabe aka Kaito さんに、それぞれ 90 分の DJ セットをお願いしています。
年末のお忙しい時期かと思いますが、この二人の選曲による “音の世界” を、田口音響によるスピーカーシステムで、間近で体験できる貴重な機会です。お誘い合わせのうえ、ほんの少しでもお立ち寄りいただけたら幸いです。

【お知らせ】11/29 Sat・11/30 Sun の今週末、第2回 Tech Direction Awards 受賞作品展に、JKDがサウンドディレクション／プロデュースを担当した「Osaka Expo 2025 Soundscape Design」を出展します。また、トークセッションには、代表のブルース・イケダも登壇します。
本プロジェクトは、フィジカルエクスペリエンス部門で金賞を受賞。会場では、審査員から満場一致で高評価を得たSound Brief（ディレクションシート）を、大型パネルとモニターでスライド展示します。

トークセッションでは、万博全体のアンブレラコンセプトを7つのエリアのサウンドスケープへどのように落とし込んだのか、また7名のコンポーザーとともに生成的でダイナミックな音響体験をどのように共創したのか、そのプロセスについてお話しします。イベントは渋谷・404 Not Found にて開催。ブルースは 11/29 Sat 14:30〜に登壇予定です。ご都合合えば、ぜひお立ち寄りください。

This weekend, Nov 29–30, we will be exhibiting “Osaka Expo 2025 Soundscape Design”— directed and produced by JKD —at the Tech Direction Awards Exhibition in Shibuya. Our representative, Bruce Ikeda, will also join the talk session.
The project received the Gold Prize in the Physical Experience category. At the venue, the Sound Brief—unanimously acclaimed by the judges—will be presented as a large visual panel and slide display. In the talk session, Bruce will discuss how the Expo’s overarching umbrella concept, led by Sou Fujimoto and the venue design producers, was translated into the soundscape across seven areas. He will also share insights into the collaborative process with seven composers, and how the generative, dynamic audio experience was created.The event will take place at 404 Not Found (Shibuya). Bruce will be speaking on Sat, Nov 29 at 14:30. We look forward to seeing you there.
