Thanks to everyone who attended Friday's wine tasting event at the Welcome Home/Just Add Water Holiday Open House. Special thanks go out to Gayl Wheeler and Lorrie Furniss for the fabulous homemade wines they contributed to the event. Gayl's Selection International Petit Verdot and Lorrie's Premier Cru French Cabernet Sauvignon were very highly rated by everyone who sampled them. The most popular white wines were the Vintners Reserve Pinot Grigio and the Cellar Classic South African Sauvignon Blanc. If you weren't able to attend the event, we missed you! Here's a sampling of what you missed.

Confused about cooking with wine? See what Wine Wiki has to say: http://www.winexpert.com/wine-wiki/show/Cooking+With+Wine

Wine Storage Tips from Winexpert:
Wine Storage Tips
Here are some wine storage tips to ensure top quality wine:
Do:
Store your wine upright for the first 3 to 5 days.
After that, store your wine on its side in order to keep the cork moist.
Store your wine in a cool, dark place.
Your wine should be stored where the temperature is CONSISTENT… Bright light, movement, and temperature fluctuations can negatively affect the quality of your wine.
Do Not:
Do not constantly turn your wine. Red wines will sometimes dust (leave residue on the inside of the bottle). This is normal. Simply decant your wine.
Do not store your wine directly on a cement floor. Put a thick piece of wood under your wine storage boxes.
Do not store your wine on heated floors.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by last Saturday during the wine tasting at Welcome Home. We met some new folks and enjoyed seeing some of our long time customers. Gayl Wheeler's Stag's Leap Distric Merlot and the new Limited Edition French Rose' were very popular with the tasters. If you didn't make it to this event, plan to come to the March tasting. As soon as the date has been set, we'll let you know.
