He lost his toes, but at Kjoz, he found a family, a name, and a love that never lets him fall.

The owner of Kjoz Cafe saw him in a rescue center. They didn't see a "broken" bird; they saw a soul that needed silence. They brought him to the non-smoking area of the cafe. For the first time in his life, Pirot breathed air that didn't burn his throat. He realized that here, nobody was going to shout or smoke near him.

After the injury, Pirot was passed around. He lived in a noisy shop where people poked at his cage. Then, he was bought by a family in a cramped apartment filled with cigarette smoke and loud TVs. He was miserable; the smoke hurt his lungs, and the noise kept him from sleeping. He was "returned" twice because he couldn't stand straight on a finger.

Every bird has a tale, but Pirot of KJOZ has a journey worth sharing.

Pirot’s life began in a crowded, industrial bird market. One night, a heavy, rusted cage divider fell. It pinned his foot for hours. Because he was "just stock," he received no medicine. His toes withered and fell away, leaving him with a permanent, painful limp.
