MEMPHIS GLASS COLLECTIBLES An exhibition of murano glass objects by Ettore Sottsass for MEMPHIS A bit of history first…
In the 1980s, Ettore Sottsass - major figure in Italian design and founder of the MEMPHIS Group - began a unique collaboration with master glassmakers of Murano. From this alliance a series of sculptural vases and objects have been crafted that embody both the venetian traditional craftsmanship and the radical expression of postmodern design.
A unique collection in Luxembourg
Today we proudly present one of the largest collections of vases and glass objects by Ettore Sottsass for Memphis, ever exhibited in Luxembourg.
This exceptional gathering of original pieces offers a rare overview of the creativity, the Memphis movement is standing for and the singular alliance between formal experimentation and artisanal mastery.
Through this exhibition, we want to invite the public and design lovers to rediscover the poetic, sometimes ironic, inspiration of this founding moment of contemporary design - an ever-living dialogue between color, material and reflection.
