Decades of wear, stripped back and built up again. ✨

These traditional Maltese 'persjani' shutters came to us with chipped paint, damaged slats, wood rot and honest ageing worth saving. Using a careful burn technique, we worked back to bare wood and rebuilt the finish by hand — until they were ready to go back home.

We've just added this piece to the new collection and it's a quiet showstopper. Solid oak throughout, with that warm, honeyed tone that mid-century Scandinavian designers used so effectively. The construction is clean and unfussy — broad panel legs and a three-drawer pedestal on the right.

What we love most are the details. Each drawer features a circular cutout pull — no protruding handles, no extra hardware. Just a smooth, intentional recess carved directly into the drawer face. It's a signature of the period and the kind of thing that separates considered design from the ordinary.
