WIP for a custom project from our Altar collection, now reimagined as coffee tables.
Inspired by shrines and sacred spaces, these pieces invite ritual, reflection, and the careful appreciation of daily objects. Part of our SRO series, they celebrate the craft of stone while transforming functional furniture into sculptural altars for the home.

Estela installed at Pujol, a two-Michelin-star restaurant ranked among the world’s 50 best.
Estela is a sculptural lamp inspired by ancient Mexican stelae—monolithic stone pieces created by early pre-Hispanic civilizations to record their history. The lamp emits a soft, warm light, reminiscent of a torch glowing within a cave. Hand-carved from a single block of marble, its pristine exterior contrasts with the raw, unpolished interior, where the marks of the artisan’s tools remain visible.

In the south of Mexico City is located El Pedregal, an area distinguished by its abrupt lava gardens, product of the mythical explosion of the Xitle volcano.
The rich landscape, a consequence of the explosion that occurred more than 1,700 years ago, became a point of reference and inspiration for Luis Barragán. The Mexican architect developed the area in the late 1940s, combining the original geological formations with architecture inspired by the international style.
Using this as inspiration, EWE Studio creates its first large-scale installation. Six black marble monoliths are selected for their rawness and expression, which are grouped to form a circle in the lobby of the Pedre residential building.

There is a raw beauty in the creation of the ‘Unfinished’ vessels. During the hand-carving process, master stonemasons use different tools, leaving expressive traces engraved on the marble and embracing the accident in the process.
We seek to highlight these intentions by pausing arbitrarily during the fabrication of the pieces, giving a unique and unrepeatable character in all the vessels.

Drawing upon the symbolism and importance of stelae, EWE has crafted a lengthy monolithic lamp out of bronze. This piece showcases an elegant and delicate shape with thin walls constructed from the original marble Estela.
Estela is a sculptural stone lamp inspired by Mexican stelae, large, single stone monoliths utilized by ancient civilizations to record history. The lamp emits a light reminiscent of a torch within a cave, revealing the rough surfaces of the stone left visible by the traces of the hand and the tools used to make them.
