As a proud third-generation bedding brand in Taoyuan, Sleepy Tofu’s products were among some that were exclusively selected to be brought to Malaysia! Their signature item was their extraordinary comfortable mattress, which was specifically designed for people that lived within tropical countries. It literally took two years to develop from an initial idea to the first prototype testing.
Adapting a similar business model as general US startups, they were exclusively online and only provide direct-to-consumer services. The mattresses come in five sizes that arrive vacuum-packed in a sturdy cardboard box. For those that still had a doubt in their mind, Sleepy Tofu offers every customer a 100-day “test it at home” trial period for a full refund!
Why not others?
Current marketized mattresses were generally made out of foam, latex, or pocketed coils. While they undoubtedly had their own plus points, their downsides were unbearable as well.
First of all, foam mattresses are too soft and stuffy for tropical climates. Latex ones tend to retain motion (not ideal for non-single users). Lastly, the Pocketed coil mattress is too tuff and uncomfortable.
How does it affect us long term?
The right product brings efficiency, others might complicate things. As we spend a quarter of our life on a mattress, let’s see how it is going to affect our health.
Children should prioritize on general support for their growth and bone development. Emphasis on mattress softness alone tends to result in the adoption of unnatural sleeping posture. The risk of back pain and hunch back development are unavoidable in the future.
As time flies, people will need to prioritize on a stress reliever with growing body mass support capability. A bed that’s too stiff might easily constrain stress within the body parts. Hence, it heightens the tendency of getting injured.
Through in-depth research on mattress brands in and out of Taiwan, it is clear that none were truly suited for hot humid weather. Thus, a hybrid was born, where it combined the strengths of foam and pocketed coils.
It is important to note that the most important feature of a good mattress is the capability to achieve a perfect balance with motion reduction, general softness, and body weight support. Sleepy tofu managed to perfectly balance a compact layer of pocketed coils with 1/2 foam mattress in the creation of a stress reliever that actually worked!
As polymer elastic foam of our design hugs the body comfortably, the coil spring underneath grants superb support. Altogether offers unique support, flexibility, and durability.
Graphite is blended into the foam to help with heat dissipation and dehumidification. Moderately soft and firm, the body does not sink into the mattress, avoiding heat accumulation during long resting hours.
