President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved massive infrastructure development projects across Nigeria’s tertiary healthcare sector. Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, confirmed the release of funds and project scope aimed at upgrading clinical facilities, improving local treatment capacity, and reducing foreign medical tourism.
Upgrades at National Hospital, Abuja
New Administrative Complex: Construction of a dedicated management facility valued at N18.74 billion.
Modular Clinics and Operating Theatres: Specialized clinical infrastructure costed at N64.92 billion to expand capacity.
High-End Clinical Wing: Development of a premium facility valued at N103 billion with a 24-month ex*****on window.
National Neuroscience Institute: Infrastructure valued at N69 billion to deliver specialized neurosurgical, radiological, and stroke management services.
National Cancer Research and Treatment Expansion
National Cancer Center: A N302.3 billion flagship cancer research and treatment facility under the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), scheduled for completion over 36 months.
Radiotherapy Equipment Expansion: Direct procurement of modern linear accelerators to strengthen oncology infrastructure nationwide.
