The materials: dynamic light, textiles, toys and old skool speaker parts.

The heartbeat: Bringing people together through light, sound and energy.

The inner child: Skates and toys representing play, innocence and freedom.

The tactile experience: yarns and the comforting warmth of 1970s-inspired carpet textures.

The reactions: Children dancing, people feeling warmth and visitors becoming emotional.

📰🌸 OLD NEWS. NEW LIFE. NEW LIGHT 💡

What if the history of a building could be felt, touched, and experienced through art?

OLD NEWS by Ruwe Bolster Artlights & Furniture brings the past into the present through storytelling, upcycling, and light.

Located in Cityside, a building dating back to the early seventies, these unique art lights tell the story of a former paper factory that was transformed into a multi-tenant office building.

Created from old newspapers from Het Financieele Dagblad and upcycled BROKIS lamps, the installation gives discarded materials a new life.

The crumpled newspaper is transformed into flower-shaped art. A poetic reminder that paper comes from trees. By bringing these materials back into the interior in a new form, we symbolically bring nature back inside. 🌿🌸

And there’s more to it than sustainability. The warm glow of the art lights brings back that cosy, familiar feeling of the seventies, creating a connection between the building’s history and the people who use it today.

Because yesterday’s materials can become tomorrow’s stories. And OLD NEWS can shine a whole new light on the future.

Some things are simply too beautiful to leave in the past.

TAKE ME BACK transforms vintage brass pieces into warm, atmospheric wall lights, giving old materials a new purpose and a pretty good reason to stay on the wall.
