HEART BEAT in progress part 3 - sound on 🔈

For our new interactive art light installation HEART BEAT, we’re once again working together with the incredibly talented from and ._serious .

Gayan is responsible for all the spray paint work within HEART BEAT, bringing colour and positive energy to the installation.

But this collaboration goes far beyond this project. We’ve been working together across several previous productions, building a creative connection based on trust, experimentation, and a shared ambition for making things that stand out.

From our first collaboration at .club ROTTERDAM to our latest project HEART BEAT, it’s always a pleasure to see what happens when our worlds come together.

HEART BEAT is an interactive art light installation that responds to music, transforming sound into light, colour, movement, and atmosphere.

Come and experience the power of love in Rotterdam (11-13 September) which happens to be Gayan’s home town.

There is something special about seeing our studio transform into a meeting place for Amsterdam’s creative community. Designers, makers and other creative professionals came together to exchange ideas, reconnect and celebrate the start of another edition of GLUE Amsterdam.

ArtAndTechnology Love Hope Connection

A first look at the new home of Rotterdam and the beginning of HEART BEAT by

I recently visited the new BIG ART location for the first time, and I was immediately inspired by the atmosphere of this extraordinary space.

Located in the former Codrico factory, the beautiful industrial setting offers spectacular views over the river Maas and creates a unique backdrop for our new art light installation, HEART BEAT.

In this reel, I’m sharing a first impression of the location and a glimpse of what’s to come.

Creating HEART BEAT is an ambitious project, and I’m reaching out to my network for support.

Most people see a lamp.
I saw the history of a building.

When I designed an apartment on Zeeburgerdijk in Amsterdam East, I kept thinking about what it used to be.
A fashion school.
That detail stayed with me.

Around that same time, I visited the in Tilburg and saw these colourful thread cones. Something so joyful about them. Simple, almost playful.
That image never really left.

So I combined leftover thread cones - found on - with fabric cables, a solid oak board, and a cone-shaped LED bulb with a retro feel. Because the building is from 1914.

Piece by piece, it became more than a light.
A colourful reminder of a building’s story.

The second STITCH IT was made from leftover fabric from , a fabric design and production company — sourced the same way.

Different material, same feeling.
Giving overlooked materials a new place. A second life.

Now they hang as centrepieces that bring warmth, colour and a bit of humour.

I love objects that make people smile. That make someone stop and ask:
“What is that?”
Because then the story begins.
