WHAT A HIT art light installation
Ruwe Bolster Art Lights & Furniture
Design lampen en meubels waarbij hergebruik van bestaande materialen centraal staat
Most buildings don’t need more decoration.
They need more ENERGY.
That’s what WHAT A HIT was built to do.
An art light installation made from real drum cymbals and hi-hats.
Why?
Because energy has always come from two places for me:
Music and sunlight.
In Detroit house music, the hi-hats carry the groove.
That lift.
That pulse.
That natural high.
So I wanted to take that feeling and turn it into something people could physically walk into.
Each light shines upward into the cymbal above it, creating warm glowing forms…
Like multiple suns suspended in space.
Not one source of energy.
Many.
Music.
Light.
Warmth.
Movement.
Atmosphere.
That is what great spaces do.
They don’t just look good.
They make you feel something the second you enter.
And if your space needs more life, more warmth, more soul…
That’s exactly what we create at Ruwe Bolster.

Everything starts somewhere.
For me, it started in corporate interior architecture…
spaces that looked good, but didn’t feel good.
Over time, I realised I was more interested in how spaces make people feel than how they look on paper.
Discovering the power of reusing materials, embracing imperfection, and designing with emotion changed everything.
This is how Ruwe Bolster began.
If you’re new here, this is the story behind the work.

PHILOSOPHY
I don’t see waste.
I see potential.
Every material has already lived a life, and that history is what makes it special.
The imperfections, the marks, the unexpected details — that’s where the character comes from.
No two pieces are ever the same.
That’s the beauty of working this way.
This is the philosophy behind Ruwe Bolster.
