♟️ CHESSBOARD #8 — “Flowing Line Edition”

Crafted from stunning maple burl and finished with a custom flowing line design hidden beneath the surface.
This is the eighth piece from my 9 piece Chess World series.

In this Reel, I’m showing the next step of the process: adding the gold feet on the underside, while also preparing the underside for its finish. I then apply an oil-based finish to seal the wood and enhance the grain. After that, I sand the top and sides to create a smooth finish — but more on that in the next and final video.

Crafted from stunning maple burl and finished with a custom bubble design hidden beneath the surface.
This is the seventh piece from my 9 piece Chess World series.

In this Reel, I’m showing the next step of the process: adding the chess playing fields, each with an inner radius. When viewed from above, this creates the illusion that the fields are curving inward, giving a special effect that fits beautifully with the design features beneath the chessboards. I then choose a color that I feel fits the chessboard best.

♟️ CHESSBOARD #4 — “Transparent Blue Edition”

Crafted from stunning maple burl and finished with a custom transparent blue design hidden beneath the surface.
This is the fourth piece from my 9 piece Chess World series.

In this Reel, I’m showing the next step of the process: pouring the thick layer of epoxy. I like to let this cure for at least one to two weeks, so the epoxy becomes hard enough to flatten and sand easily. It also gives me time to think about any design features I’d like to add.

Crafted from stunning maple burl and finished with a custom bubble design hidden beneath the surface.
This is the third piece from my 9 piece Chess World series.

In this Reel, I’m showing the next step of the process. After the bark and cambium is removed, I can then add a priming layer. This mitigates bubbles and gives me a really good base to work from for the future steps.
