Thanks for stopping by. I am an Upholstery specialist located in beautiful Oratia, Auckland, New Zealand. If you are interested in finding out a little more about me then grab a coffee and a seat...

I'm Karen, The mind and hands behind The Upholstress. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am constantly busy creating one thing or another. I've been this way ever since I was small.

Over the years I have put this desire to create to good purpose; passionately studying Art, Textiles, and Fashion Design. I then went on to being part of the wonderful world of fashion, with jobs in Design, Production, Quality Control, Sales, and Customer Service.

As I got older, my passions changed, and my two incredible children came into the world. I decided I wanted to work with a product that was not 'fast-fashion', that was instead full of love and was also renewable. One that can stay out of our landfills, has already proven to last at least one lifetime, and will bring joy to peoples' lives.

Finally, I found my focus, and a sustainable passion: to work with something I had spent my life admiring: Mid Century Furniture. I hear myself speak about what I do and can't help but think I sound like an old granny reminiscing about the 'good old days' when things were made to last.

I hope each rejuvenated piece of Mid Century Furniture not only finds a place in your home, but also delights your eye, warms your heart, and brings a smile to your face!
