We’re proud to be a National Supply Partner to the Registered Master Landscapers Association.
The partnership gives RML members greater access to South Pacific Timber’s specialist timber knowledge, product range and project support — from decking, fencing and screening through to cladding, boardwalks and custom timber requirements.
Just as importantly, it gives members access to people who understand timber: which species suit different applications, what is available, and how to specify it properly.
We look forward to supporting RML members and our merchant partners around New Zealand.

Some projects start with a plan. This one started with a blowtorch, an axe and a very determined long weekend.
Amy from blackbirdstudio set out to build a mezzanine that didn't look new - so instead of buying it aged, she aged it herself.
Every SPT Radiata Pine beam was hand-burnt, axed and sawn before being raised into place, one length at a time, until fresh-cut timber started reading like it had been standing for a hundred years.
It's the kind of project we love being part of, simply because we got to supply the timber and watch someone turn it into something this good.
Whatever you're building, we're always happy to help you find the right timber for it.

Vertical or horizontal? It's one of the most common cladding questions we get, and the answer isn't always as straightforward as picking the look you like.
Both orientations can create stunning results when they're suited to the design and installed correctly. The best choice often comes down to the style of the home, the architectural intent, and how you want the finished project to feel.
Swipe through to explore the key differences and see how each option can shape the overall look of a build.
Still deciding? Bring us your elevation drawings. We'd be happy to help you find the right fit.

Timber flooring and underfloor heating aren't enemies.
In fact, we've supplied plenty of projects where the two work together beautifully.
Success comes down to preparation:
✅ Acclimatisation
✅ Controlled temperatures
✅ Stable humidity
Like most things with timber, understanding how the material behaves is the key.
If you're considering underfloor heating with timber flooring, make sure you start with the right advice. The right product, installation method, and environment can make all the difference to long-term performance.
Visit our website for the full installation guide, or talk to our team in person. We'll help you find the best solution for your project.

Proof that even a tight city section can host bold natural beauty. 🌿
Tucked away in Auckland's urban landscape, this backyard retreat was built around FSC® Kwila Hardwood Decking, chosen for its rich red-brown tones and the kind of durability that holds up to New Zealand's climate without losing its warmth.
Naturally dense and resistant to wear, with an interlocked grain that gives it a remarkably fine finish. This isn't a deck you replace in ten years. It's one you watch age, gracefully, into something even better.

Looking after timber flooring isn't complicated.
In fact, most long-term damage comes from a handful of avoidable mistakes. A wet mop. Trapped grit. Ignored spills. Rugs left in the same place for years.
With a little care, timber flooring rewards you with something few materials can offer: the ability to be renewed rather than replaced.
Swipe through for a few simple maintenance tips worth knowing. 👉

If you've ever been asked "Red or Blue?" when ordering cedar shingles, here's what it actually means.
It's not about colour. It's about grade.
The practical difference? Blue label shingles are cut from the clearest timber and are designed for demanding applications like roofs and exposed facades. Red label shingles are better suited to lower-exposure areas where appearance is the priority and the weather isn't doing all the testing. Think, sheltered facades, decorative gable ends, by window surrounds, interior feature walls.
We stock both. The right call depends entirely on where it's going.
Not sure which suits your project? Come in and we'll walk you through it.

Not everyone knows FSC® Garapa. But the people who do tend to come back for it.
It's a South American hardwood that flies under the radar compared to some of the more familiar decking species. We've been working with it long enough to understand why it has such a loyal following.
Garapa is graded more strictly than almost any other decking timber we stock. Often referred to as "Platinum Garapa" overseas, it typically comes through in long lengths, nearly defect-free. It has a clean, fine grain, a lighter appearance than Kwila, and it doesn't bleed tannins.
Minimal tannin bleed means no staining on surrounding concrete, no transfer onto outdoor furniture or cushions, and fewer maintenance headaches down the track.
It's one of those species that quietly wins people over once they've worked with it.
If you haven't specified FSC® Garapa before, it might be worth a conversation.

If you've ever walked across a deck that still looks great after 10 summers, there's a good chance it was FSC® Kwila.
One of New Zealand's most popular hardwood decking species, FSC® Kwila is prized for its durability, rich reddish-brown tones, and ability to handle the demands of outdoor living. Over time, it develops character while maintaining the strength and stability that homeowners and builders trust.
This beautiful project by EliteLine Constructionon showcases everything we love about FSC® Kwila, from its distinctive grain to the warmth it brings to any outdoor space.
