Kia ora e te iwi! We are planting again this Saturday in the repo behind our tupuna whare, Te Whetu-o-te-rangi! 10am to 12pm, followed with a shared kai...nau mai e te iwi 💚
We hosted a group from Santa Maria, California over the past 3 days and started with a pohiri at Te Whetu-o-te-rangi. They were here to serve and give back to our community. We had a hangi hakari on their last day with us thanks to Ole Olegario Gaspar and all who helped out over the past few days!

Chrissy and I spent time on Rangiwaea to kōrero with whānau about some challenges they face in regard to sea level rising and tides lapping at the back of their wharenui. A multi strategy approach including short-term solutions to buy time is on the table. As we know however, coastal marae across the motu are having to have hard discussions regarding longterm solutions to similar climate challenges. There are solutions but they will not be easy or straighforward or cheap to implement.
