Panama’s new Law 546 has restored an important tax benefit on the first sale of newly built residential properties, with the first $120,000 of the property’s taxable value exempt from the 2% Real Estate Transfer Tax (ITBI).

And the benefit isn’t limited to properties priced under $120,000 — it can also apply to the first $120,000 of higher-value qualifying purchases.

For buyers looking at Panama’s growing number of new developments, it’s another reason to take a closer look.

We’re very happy to introduce Lois Langmaid, our new Architect and Designer at AFC Interiors.

Lois is a Structural Architect and graduate of Universidad Santa María La Antigua (USMA), with several years of experience in architectural design, technical drawings, project coordination, permitting, and construction supervision.

Her experience across both residential and commercial projects gives her a strong understanding of what happens between an idea on paper and a finished space — from materials and technical documentation to site coordination and the realities of construction.

Now, Lois is bringing that technical background to AFC Interiors while expanding further into the creative side of interior design.

Lois says:

"I’m very excited to be part of AFC Interiors because I see interior design as a natural extension of architecture and an opportunity to explore the creative side of design in more detail. I’m especially excited to contribute my experience while learning from the AFC Interiors team. I’ve already found the team to be incredibly intelligent, creative, talented, and genuinely lovely to work with, which makes me even more excited about this new chapter."

And she really did jump straight in! 📐 Within days, Lois was already out on site, measuring, reviewing project details, and getting involved in the work underway.

Introducing Meredith Robles - our new Interior Designer.

Meredith is an Interior Design graduate from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Panama. Her journey in design includes various sides of the industry, including valuable experience in furniture design and sales where she developed a deeper understanding of clients and their needs.

At AFC Interiors, Meredith with be working closely with Amy to plan, design and install beautiful and functional interiors for our clients in Panama City and the beaches areas.

Meredity says: "I’m excited to begin a new chapter as part of AFC Interiors! I’m especially excited about this opportunity because it allows me to keep growing as a designer, learn from an amazing team, take on new challenges, and bring my own creativity and perspective into the world of interior design."
