"𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉? 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝑰 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆?"

These are questions many Grade 12 learners face as they approach a new chapter in life.

The Senior High Center for Counseling and Wellness proudly presents this year's Career Orientation with the theme, "𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐒: 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬."

Through insightful discussions and shared experiences from our resource speakers, learners will gain the knowledge, perspective, and confidence needed to make informed choices and take purposeful steps toward achieving success.

Whether you already have a dream course in mind or are still discovering your direction, you are exactly where growth begins: 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅.

See you soon, Louisians!

When we speak our truth, we create space for others to do the same. Real voices help build stronger connections, break barriers, and remind us that mental health journeys deserve to be heard.

In celebration of Mental Health Month, the 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐔𝐩 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 reminds us of the importance of meaningful and open conversations on mental health.

More than just a theme or a color, Light Up Blue for Mental Health represents our commitment in creating a safe and supportive Louisian community where everyone feels seen, heard, understood, and valued.

This 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 (𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟑), we invite all Louisians to wear blue as a symbol of hope, peace, and support for mental health awareness.

Together, let us continue to spread kindness and be a ray of light for one another. ⛅️💙

This month reminds us of how important mental health is for everyone. It encourages us to be more mindful of our emotions, more understanding of others, and more compassionate toward ourselves.

Supporting someone who is struggling does not always mean having the right words to say or offering immediate solutions to their problems. More often than not, listening without judgment, respecting their feelings, and reminding them that they do not have to face their struggles alone can go a long way in helping them feel supported.

Take note, however, that as we extend our care to others, we must also remember to give ourselves the same kindness. It’s okay to take a break, acknowledge our feelings, ask for help, and give ourselves time to heal and recharge. We cannot always be strong, and we do not have to figure everything out on our own. At times like these, let us take a moment to reflect and ask ourselves, “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙢 𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙮?”

This month, let us remind ourselves that mental health is important for 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙔𝙊𝙉𝙀, and that includes 𝙔𝙊𝙐. After all, caring for others begins with understanding, and caring for ourselves is just as important. 💙

Guided by the theme “𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝: 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞,” the competition seeks to highlight meaningful stories of support, resilience, and hope through actions, emotions, perspectives, and genuine human connection.

At the heart of this initiative is a powerful message: You do not have to name the diagnosis to tell the story. Every experience has the power to inspire understanding, empathy, and positive change.

Let us come together with one heart and one soul to empower authentic voices and showcase creativity through storytelling.

It’s that time of the year! October is 𝓝𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵 𝓜𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓪𝓵 𝓗𝓮𝓪𝓵𝓽𝓱 𝓜𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓱.💙

With this year’s theme, “𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓵 𝓢𝓽𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓼, 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓵 𝓥𝓸𝓲𝓬𝓮𝓼, 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓵 𝓢𝓾𝓹𝓹𝓸𝓻𝓽,” we are reminded to help create an environment where mental health conversations are authentic, inclusive, and supportive.

𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓵 𝓢𝓽𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓼 remind us to be kind and empathetic, as each one of us has our own unique experiences. 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓵 𝓥𝓸𝓲𝓬𝓮𝓼 remind us of the importance of giving everyone opportunities to speak, listen, reflect, and participate in safe mental health conversations. Lastly, 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓵 𝓢𝓾𝓹𝓹𝓸𝓻𝓽 emphasizes that mental health promotion goes beyond awareness. It involves building a caring community where everyone knows where to seek help, whom they can approach, and how they can support one another.

We warmly invite the Louisian community to participate in the activities prepared by the High School Center for Counseling and Wellness. Together, we can create a safe community where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected. 💙

𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 for the SLU BEdS Community as we stand in solidarity for greater connections among challenging times. With the theme "Reframed: Growing Beyond the Borders," we are reminded that our challenges do not define us; it is how we grow beyond it that do. 🌳

We would like to give a big shout out to The Louisian for covering the stories of hope of both learners and staff. We truly appreciate everyone's participation! 🫶 💚
