CATBALOGAN CITY, SAMAR — The Regional Smart Communities Exposition and Networking Engagement 2026 (rSCENE 2026) officially concluded its three-day run on October 8, 2026, leaving a lasting impact on the digital landscape of Eastern Visayas. Held at Tandaya Hall and the Samar State University Gymnasium, the event brought together tech innovators, local government executives, academic leaders, and national agencies under the theme, “The Living Tapestry: Weaving the Threads of Innovation and Heritage.”
Co-organized by the City Government of Catbalogan, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the exposition highlighted how modern technology can seamlessly merge with local culture to solve grassroots issues.
A major highlight of the event was the Quest for the Smart LGU 2026 Overall Championship, where participating municipalities faced off in a 48-Hour Environment Hackathon, idea reverse pitching, and digital arts. Attendees also experienced cutting-edge local inventions at the Smart Solutions Gallery, including Catbalogan's own Eco-Connect Vendo System, the USWAG Citizen Portal, and the eco-friendly C-Trike project.
The event included a celebratory Mayor's Night, cementing new cross-sectoral partnerships for a smarter, more resilient region.
