Google Philippines is expanding access to practical artificial intelligence (AI) training for Filipino educators through a free, self-paced learning program designed to reduce administrative workloads and give teachers more time to engage with their students.
Launched in celebration of Teacherโs Month this October, the Google AI Educator Series (GES) provides educators with practical AI skills they can apply immediately in their classrooms. The initiative reinforces Googleโs teacher-first approach, positioning AI as a tool to support educators rather than replace their essential role in the learning process.
The program features bite-sized online modules lasting 15 to 45 minutes, allowing participants to learn at their own pace and earn digital badges upon completion. By simplifying routine tasks and supporting classroom activities, the training aims to help teachers devote more time to instruction, mentorship, creative teaching strategies, and meaningful student interactions.

A consortium of educational institutions seeking to strengthen polytechnic education in the Philippines was recently launched during a national summit last October 14 to 16.
The Philippine Polytechnic Education Network (PhilPEN) was launched during the National Summit on Polytechnic Education led by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).
โLet's work together as one polytechnic. Let us build a consortium that will advance polytechnic education, that will contribute to national progress while responding to global challenges,โ said PUP president Manuel Muhi.
PhilPEN aims to establish a Philippine Polytechnic Education Framework to harmonize curricula, elevate quality assurance standards, and promote work-integrated learning for evolving workforce demands.

The Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) noted gaps in the distribution of classroom allocations, with some municipalities in the country facing the largest shortages receiving fewer classrooms than needed, while others were allocated much more than their estimated deficits.
In an analysis of the Department of Educationโs (DepEd) planned FY 2026 classroom allocations, EDCOM 2 found that only 45.2% of the 332 local government units (LGUs) with the largest estimated classroom shortages were also among the top recipients of planned classroom allocations. The findings point to the need to better align infrastructure spending with actual school-level needs, particularly in highly congested areas.
The issue was raised during the Senate Committee on Finance briefing on DepEdโs proposed FY 2027 budget on October 16, 2026, where EDCOM 2 Co-Chairperson Sen. Bam Aquino called on DepEd and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to accelerate classroom construction and ensure that allocations translate into completed facilities.
