In the 2Q26 Gartner Emerging Risk Report, the discovery of cyber vulnerabilities enabled by AI became the number one emerging risk confronting enterprises around the globe. The survey was conducted among 316 business leaders and risk management professionals from different industries and regions.

With the increased speed of vulnerability discovery provided by artificial intelligence technologies, conventional security solutions may not be able to cope with the new situation. This necessitates that organizations build up risk management capabilities and accelerate their cyber response plans.

For many years, the focus on AI has been on what it can achieve. But now, businesses are showing increasing interest in asking something else: What can it actually deliver?

Attention can be garnered by a compelling model or demo, but real trust will only come from AI demonstrating its worth in practical applications, helping to enhance processes, strengthen security, respond faster, and solve problems in real-world settings.

As the incorporation of AI into business and infrastructures continues to grow, performance in practice may well end up being more important than all the talk around the technology.
