Hot take: Many restaurants don’t fail because of bad food. They fail because of bad interiors.
I’ve recently seen several small restaurants in Warsaw for sale, and a common pattern is immediately obvious when you look at the photos: terrible lighting, random furniture, too many colours, shiny floors, no acoustics, no atmosphere. Everything feels hard, loud, cold and uncomfortable. You walk in and you subconsciously want to leave as soon as you finish eating.
Restaurant owners often spend huge amounts on kitchens and equipment, but almost nothing on the space where customers actually sit for 1–2 hours.
Interior design in a restaurant is not decoration. It directly affects:
-How long people stay
-How much they order
-How loud the space feels
-Whether they come back
-Whether they recommend the place
-Whether they leave good reviews
-Whether the place feels cheap or premium
Lighting alone can completely change how food looks, how people look, and how long they stay. Acoustics can be the difference between a lively atmosphere and an unbearable noise level. Seating comfort can determine whether people order one drink or three.
Design is not an expense for restaurants. It is one of the few things that directly affects revenue.
If you are opening a restaurant and interior design is an afterthought, you are already making your business much harder than it needs to be.

Very important info for those of you who have wooden flooring at home. Humidification is a must to prevent cracking.
Sezon grzewczy + drewniana podłoga = nawilżanie obowiązkowe 🌿
Zimą ogrzewanie mocno wysusza powietrze, a to nie służy drewnianym podłogom. Zbyt niska wilgotność może powodować szczeliny, pęknięcia i skrzypienie desek. Regularne nawilżanie powietrza pomaga utrzymać stabilne warunki w domu, dzięki czemu drewno zachowuje swój wygląd i trwałość na lata. Komfort dla podłogi i dla domowników — same plusy 🙂

A–Z Design Process Update: Visualisation Stage
With the key materials and finishes now selected, we move into one of the most important phases of the design process: visualisation.
At this stage, we prepare detailed 3D visualisations to show the client exactly how their chosen materials, colours and furnishings will look together in real space — before any final commitments are made.
Flooring, cabinetry, worktops, wall colours, lighting and furniture are all tested together, allowing the client to see proportions, contrasts and transitions between rooms. This helps confirm that the overall style feels right and that individual choices work as a cohesive whole, not just on paper or in isolation.
Visualisations remove guesswork. They highlight potential issues early, allow for informed adjustments, and give confidence that the final interior will reflect the intended look and atmosphere.
Once the visual direction is approved, we finalise the technical drawings and specifications and move confidently into pricing, ordering and ex*****on.
This is the step where design decisions stop being abstract — and start feeling real.

A-Z Design process update.
With the overall layout now confirmed, we’ve moved into the next key phase of the design. The client has selected a specific floor tile, which becomes the anchor for the entire interior palette.
From here, we coordinate the broader colour scheme to work harmoniously with this tile — balancing tones, contrasts and materials across the apartment so everything feels intentional and cohesive, not accidental.
This stage is where we refine the details: cabinetry fronts and finishes, joinery materials, worktops, wall colours, fixtures and selected furniture pieces. Each choice is tested against the tile to ensure consistency across spaces and a smooth visual flow from room to room.
Once these decisions are locked in, we move on to fully detailing the interior specifications — exact materials, finishes, dimensions and product selections. We then provide high quality renderings before the pricing, ordering and ex*****on.
This is where a concept turns into a build-ready design.

Design Process A–Z: Part 1 — Where Every Project Begins
At Westhouse Interiors, every project starts long before colours and materials. The first step is understanding how you want to live in your space.
We begin with a meeting to discuss your needs, daily routines, and the overall purpose of the room or home. After that, clients usually send us a few inspirational photos — this helps us understand the style and atmosphere they’re drawn to.
Based on that, we prepare a clear floor plan and an interactive 3D model. This gives you an easy way to explore the layout, see how the space works, and imagine yourself moving around in it.
Once we receive your initial feedback, we refine the design and start adding early details. At this stage we still avoid colours and materials on purpose — the focus remains on functionality and flow before we move on to the visual side of the project.
The project is a constant back and forth between the client and designer, making changes and improvements until they are entirely satisfied with their space.
Here are a few images below showing what this first stage looks like.
Come back soon to follow how this project develops in the next steps of the design process.
