1 yr after Hurricane Maria....WOW!!!
This time last year, we were so "delusionally prepared" for the horrible catastrophe we were about to experience. We had NO idea what was to come. First, I want to thank EACH and EVERY person who contributed to our recovery efforts. EVERY dollar, prayer, package, piece of clothing, food, thought, action, room, share....HELPED!!
I wanted to start the generator today and take a moment of "sound". During the 6 months we had no power, while using the generator, there was a constant sound in the background. It was loud, it was distracting, it was horrible! I feel like my hearing is impaired because of the constant noise and hum mm from the generators. It's so much more quiet today than a year ago, I wanted to start it up, to remind us of how far we are, from just a year ago. Also, to do maintenance on a Friday to make sure it's ready, "just in case".

If we did not have such amazing people surrounding us....I honestly don't know where we would be today. It's STILL a daily battle.....we still have VERY few customers....we are "alive and well, and ready for business". Poco a poco, little by little. We have a roof over the decks, we're painting the house, we have 2 out of 4 rooms, fully ready for you and/or your family to stay! The pool is ready! The bar is coming! Rooms for rent for the night or weekend, or whenever! Rent the pool and deck for a party, birthday, baby shower, divorce party..." And breakfast! Breakfast included! (If you want)

We have replaced 2 of the 5 damaged air conditioners, sealed the roof, so there are no more leaks from the ceiling, we have power, crappy Internet, spotty cell phone service, still no front gate, the little help we got from FEMA was barely enough to cover anything. We still need a front security gate, we haven't replaced much of the furniture we had to get rid of, we still need kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, 2 mattresses, 3 air conditioners......
