Pink Room was at Droidcon Lisbon this year, and we enjoyed every bit of it.

Two days of talks and panels with the Android community.
Our CTO, Bruno Correia, also took the stage to talk about git worktrees: how to cook your Android code with multiple pans.

Thanks to the droidcon Lisbon team, the GDG community, and everyone who stopped to chat, we’ll be back!

On the web, a bad deploy is one rollback away. On mobile, there’s no undo button.

Once a build is in store review, you’re on the store’s timeline. A bug can stay in users’ hands for most of a day while the fix waits for approval on each platform.

Rafael Baptista wrote down how we avoid getting there: six checkpoints, from the first local commit to a phased rollout, each one catching a different kind of problem.

The short version: catch bugs as early as possible, never let a release depend on one person being careful on one evening, and let AI agents take a first pass on code review, tests and crash reports.

Can you ship AI inside a mobile app without a single call to the cloud?

Over the summer, João Ferreiro and Lucas Prioste ran an internal research project to find out what a phone can actually run in 2026, and what it costs the phone to run it. They read the papers, then put 13 models on 5 real phones.

They’ve now shared what they found with the team in our internal talk, “On-device AI: State of the art.”

Next, we’re turning it into a short blog series; be on the lookout. 👀

Yesterday we hosted Geek Girls Portugal at Pink Room for the first time!

Two talks, lots of questions, and good conversations afterwards.

Daniela Monteiro talked about personal branding for women in tech. She covered how to be seen as an equal, with practical steps for strengthening your professional positioning.

Mariana Cerveira showed how a ten-person studio put everything it knows in one place, so people and AI agents work from the same source of truth.

Thank you to Geek Girls Portugal for choosing our space for their Coimbra meetup and to everyone who came.
We hope it’s the first of many 🧡

On October 19, we’re hosting Google Developers Group for a pre-droidcon evening with two international speakers.

Mohit Sarveiya takes a deep dive into Claude Code: how Anthropic’s coding agent is built, how it runs tools concurrently, how it manages context, and which of those patterns carry over to Android workflows.

Akshay Chordiya talks about Thriving in an AI Era, a practical look at career strategy, skills and staying relevant as AI changes how we build.

We use these tools every day in our own work, so we’re glad to have this conversation happen in our space.

Getting a model to work in a demo can take an afternoon. Getting it to work in someone’s pocket, every day, is a different job.

Before we ship AI in a mobile app, we always answer three questions first.

The model is only the start, the product is the engineering around it.

That was the third Open Day.

Full desks, a lot of new faces, and even more conversations. Thank you to everyone who came. We had a lot of fun meeting you, and we hope you enjoyed your day at Pink Hub. 😁

See you at the next one.

Three things that happen at Pink Hub.

Someone walks over to your desk to look at a problem together.
Someone puts headphones on and doesn’t look up for hours.
Someone gives a talk, and the dog sleeps through it.

That’s the whole pitch, a place to work, people worth talking to, and the occasional event.

This Wednesday, 16 September, it’s open to anyone! Come spend the day for free, 09:30 to 18:00, and see which of the three you are.

Nobody writes a review praising clean architecture.

What users notice is how an app feels. How it responds when they pull, swipe or tap. Those small moments are the difference between an app that works and one that feels good to use.

Lucas went digging after noticing how Duolingo builds its animations with Rive. Build it once, use the same file on iOS, Android and web, and make it react to what the user is doing.
