Incense stands are one of the most artistic expressions of Chinese furniture. Such a stand not only supported the incense burner but was also used to display flower arrangements, fantastic rocks, and bonsai plants, and art & crafts. The flush, rounded top panel is enclosed within the ice-plate edge molding frame. The high waist is decorated with firecracker-shaped openings with raised beading. The subtlety of this stand lies in its use of lines. The raised beading of the aprons converges at the shoulders of the cabriole legs, amplified by the '卷草茶壶耳脚' literally translated as 。。。。visit us to find out more

方几几面呈起伏的葵口式，攒框镶嵌云石面，四角有倭角。边抹混面，中间压线。高束腰，每面锼挖两个渔门洞。方材腿足以抱肩榫与牙条、边抹相交，腿足看面压线，与束腰、边抹的线脚一致。底足内收，兜转抱球，下承托泥。牙条亦与边抹、束腰的起伏相一致，和谐而统一。

This Incense stand exhibits the “Ming style” aesthetics of elegance and refinement. The top is inlaid with marble, and the frames are handcrafted with indented corners and concave mouldings on all sides within a line moulding. The recessed high waist is decorated with two relief-carved beaded decorations on all four sides of the panels, and similarly carved with indented corners at the point where both panels meet, thus eliminating the visible joining lines. The outward curving aprons are carved with openwork clouds designed and layered over by a stepped apron moulding.
The use of generous material is needed for the shaped cabriole legs, carved with delicately scrolling feet and open carved rising leafage, terminating with a pad, all upon a base stretcher.

此佛床,也称贵妃椅,椅背镌刻成中央稍高,两侧稍底的弯线山形,分割成为三部分的纹饰;中央有花瓶,《平安》,莲藕《和气》,笋子《顺利》及喜鹊等构成一幅平安和顺,喜鹊报喜图案,“花瓶上有喜鹊”萬意,平安报喜,两侧则为子孙万代的象征图案,三者均嵌大理石,不仅凸显传统广式家具的文化,大理石在夏天使用时也舒服,益增凉快。

This couch, the openwork back is divided into three sections with a higher center section flanked by two lower sections, as a Shan‘山’ Chinese character. A typical decoration that is
commonly visible on canton-style couches, settees, beds, and armchairs. The center part has a vase (connoting ”peace" ’‘well’ ), vegetables of the four
seasons (bamboo shoot, water chestnut, cabbage, and lotus cupule ), and a magpie ( happiness ), which together represent wishes for peace, plenty, and joy. The sections on either side have twining gourds, which, to the Chinese, symbolize continuous descendants. All three sections were inlaid with marble, which projects an outstanding visual aspect, and the marble provides a cool spot during the hot summer season.

This square stand with a marble inlay top is waisted with a "firecracker opening". The four legs, tapered on the inner sides with beading ends elegantly, with inwards-curving horse-hoof feet resting on the floor stretchers.

宋徽宗《听琴图》高足香几
此例香几仿制于传宋代家具今存世者极少，多为出土之文物，人们对宋式家具的印象往往是从此期绘画中获得的。宋式家具极具文人之气，以朴素、简洁的形式语言蕴含了“雅”的风格，又通过人的使用状态和器物的形体，达到主体与客体统一，从而反映了文人心理追求高尚人格美的趋向，藉此表达雅正之美的“朴素 " 审美。世画作《听琴图》中所绘香几，此画为宋徽宗御笔，现藏于北京故宫博物院。

此款宋式香几采用紫光檀制成，色泽深沉而凝重，与画中原物气质相符。该几通高三尺一寸半，一尺三寸见方，由三十三个部件榫卯制作而抖成。光素几面为四角攒，边框镶嵌理石（或板心）。四腿足纤细修长，四劈八岔，腿端套铜，牙板呈壸门式，线条优美流畅，如行云流水之势，管脚枨处于腿足黄金分割处，并嵌入牙头，使得结构更为牢固。通见此几秀美高古，竖劲挺拔独具匠心，表现了宋代美学，中国文质清新的特点，是宋式家具最具代表的作品之一。

香几造型修长古雅，简洁朴素，姿态娴静玉立，色彩纯净且内敛天真，以质朴取胜，给人清淡雅致之感，体现出宋代内敛含蓄、朴拙雅致的文人审美。置于琴房、茶室、书房，文气十足。

Early Qing design - High Waisted Table / 高束腰马蹄腿两屉桌

The flush table-top floating panel is enclosed within the rectangular frame, the edge of the frame moulds downwards and inwards to end in a narrow flat band. The very high waist to house the two drawers comprises the exposed upper portion of the legs and apron. The legs terminate in the exquisitely shaped horse hoof feet.
