Amber Road, Katong

Amber Road was named after a wealthy Jewish lady by the name of Elias Amber. There is another road named after the Elias Family in Pasir Ris, called Elias Road.
Amber Road is a L-shaped Road starting at the junction of Mountbatten Road and Haig Road, and continues past the Chinese Swimming Club to join Meyer Road.
It was cut across by extension of Tanjong Katong South Road to allow traffic turning left to exit East Coast Parkway.
Many seaside bungalows along Amber Road has been redevoped into high-rise condominiums.

Over the last decade, there had been many redevelopment and renewals in Amber Road and the vicinity.
The former SeaView Hotel has been redeveloped into The SeaView condo by Wheelock Properties. The first IKEA store was located there in a annex retail block.
MaryLand Park is now The Esta, while next door, Maryland Point is now One Amber.
At the Marine Parade roundabout, a block of walk-up apartment has been redeveloped into The Cape. Next door is The Aristo@Amber where the front facade was conserved. This was the facade of a colonial building designed by the same architect who designed Raffles Hotel.
At the roundabout, The Silversea condo was built on the former HUDC Estate known as Amberville.

Named after Elias Amber, a jewish landowner. Her seafront bungalow at Amber Road has been beautifully conserved as a residents' Club House at The Seaview condominium. Elias Road in Pasir Ris was also named after her.
