#ชุดไทยพระราชนิยม (ทั้ง 8 แบบ) The collection of eight styles of Royal Thai Dresses (T้hai: ชุดไทยพระราชนิยม / Chut Thai Phra Ratcha Niyom) belonging to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother.

These eight styles, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, commissioned experts in Thai textiles and Thai history to conduct extensive research using historical documents such as mural paintings, books, records, and photographs of the Queen and women of the Siamese royal court from the Ayutthaya period to the Rattanakosin era. Based on this research, the experts redesigned all the costumes to be modern while maintaining their distinctive Thai identity. This was done so that Her Majesty could wear them during foreign visits or when receiving domestic and international guests. The eight styles of royal Thai traditional dresses are as follows:

(1.) Thai Ruean Ton Dress (Thai: ชุดไทยเรือนต้น / Chut Thai Ruean Ton) A more casual style with a pha sin (tubeskirt) and blouse, often used for daytime functions.
(2.) Thai Amarin Dress (Thai: ชุดไทยอัมรินทร์ / Chut Thai Amarin) Formal evening attire with a long skirt and blouse, adorned with a sash or decorative shoulder cloth.
(3.) Thai Boromphiman Dress (ชุดไทยบรมพิมาน / Chut Thai Boromphiman) An evening gown with long sleeves, buttoned front, and ankle-length skirt, suitable for formal occasions.
(4.) Thai Chakkri Dress (ชุดไทยจักรี / Chut Thai Chakkri) A regal style with a pha sin and a long shawl (sabais) draped over one shoulder.
(5.) Thai Chakkraphat Dress (ชุดไทยจักรพรรดิ / Chut Thai Chakkraphat) The most regal of all, richly decorated with brocade and often worn in state ceremonies.
(6.) Thai Siwalai Dress (ชุดไทยศิวาลัย / Chut Thai Siwalai) Similar to Boromphiman but with a sabai, used in royal ceremonies.
(7.) Thai Dusit Dress (ชุดไทยดุสิต / Chut Thai Dusit) A Western-style evening gown made with Thai silk, with short sleeves, reflecting modern elegance.
(8.) Thai Chitlada Dress (ชุดไทยจิตรลดา / Chut Thai Chitlada) A semi-formal day dress, often made of silk with subtle patterns, suitable for daytime official functions.

Together, these eight designs represent a harmonious blend of Thai tradition and modern elegance, and they remain a cultural legacy of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother’s vision in preserving and promoting Thai identity.

Note: The collection of eight styles of Royal Thai Dresses, belonging to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, is now over 60 years old and is currently preserved at the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.
