✨Rare Lu Mien Ceremonial Baby Hat · Northern Thailand (c. 1960s–70s)✨
A rare ceremonial baby hat from the Lu Mien (Yao) people of northern Thailand, a community renowned for their intricate textile traditions and symbolic adornment. Such hats were traditionally worn in early childhood for protection and blessing—intended to ward off negative influences while inviting good fortune and wellbeing.
Handcrafted and meticulously embroidered in cross-stitch, the surface is enriched with applied aluminium discs arranged in pyramid patterns. The bold red pom-poms are characteristic of Lu Mien dress, creating both visual presence and symbolic protection motifs.
Expert identification by Linda McIntosh, specialist in Southeast Asian textiles. Previously owned by Louise Truslow, British artist who lived and worked in Thailand during the 1990s–early 2000s. An authentic post-war example now increasingly difficult to source intact.

✨🐎 𝐁𝐚 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 — 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐦𝐚 🐎✨
A commanding and unusually large Burmese teak sculpture depicting Ba Khan Men Nat, the guardian spirit traditionally associated with horses, riders, and protection in travel. This Nat figure is shown mounted in formal courtly attire, with finely carved details, original gilding, lacquer work, and exceptionally vibrant hand-painted robes.
The scale of this piece gives it true presence as a sculptural focal point. The robe retains remarkably fresh colour and patterning, an uncommon survival given Burma’s climate, where polychrome surfaces often fade or flake over time. The overall condition is notably strong for its age, with well-preserved detailing, intact posture, and an even, attractive patina.
Historically, Nat figures such as this were displayed in homes, spirit shrines, and temples, believed to offer protection and blessings. Today, examples of this size and quality are increasingly scarce and highly sought after by collectors of Southeast Asian sculpture and statement interior décor.
⟡ Origin: Burma (Myanmar)
⟡ Subject: Ba Khan Men Nat (protector of horses and travel)
⟡ Period: Early–mid 20th century

🕉️✧ Antique Indian Engraved Brass Ceremonial Bowl ✧🕉️
A commanding, large-scale brass bowl from India, hand-hammered and densely engraved with intricate floral rosettes, palmettes, and interlaced arabesque foliage in the Mughal–Islamicate decorative tradition. Originally made as an elite household or ceremonial display vessel, this piece carries a restrained elegance rooted in classical Indo-Persian design rather than religious iconography. Its aged patina, interior wear, and softened edges reflect decades of presence and use. A strong statement object for a console, entryway, or low table — equally suited to refined interiors or eclectic collections of Asian and colonial-era decorative arts.

𓂀 ✦ Woven Light: Thai Vintage Rattan Display Shelf ✦ 𓂀
A beautifully proportioned Thai vintage rattan display shelf, where clean architectural lines meet delicate hand-woven detailing. The fine latticework panels soften the geometry of the frame, creating a piece that feels both airy and grounded. The warm honey tones and crisp structure are especially notable — rattan shelving of this age in Thailand often succumbs to humidity and insects over time, making examples in this level of preservation increasingly rare. A strong, elegant storage and display piece for books, ceramics, art objects, or plants, working effortlessly in modern, tropical, or mid-century inspired interiors.
