😎Can furniture become part of who we are?
We often choose furniture because of how it looks.
But over time, the pieces we live with can become connected to much more - our routines, preferences, memories, and even the way we express ourselves at home.🏘
💃This idea relates to “The Extended Self,” a concept introduced by consumer researcher Russell W. Belk, suggesting that the things we own and use can play a role in how we express our identity.
, this becomes especially interesting with custom furniture.
Instead of beginning with “What should this furniture look like?”
we can begin with questions like:
>> How do you live?
>> What do you use every day?
>> What feels natural to you?
>> And what do you want your space to say about you?
Then there is the material itself.
already comes with its own character 🪵 grain, variations in tone, and traces of an earlier life. When it is designed specifically for someone, two stories begin to meet: the story already held by the wood, and the story of the person who will live with it.
🪑Perhaps that is when furniture becomes more than something we simply own.
It becomes something that belongs to the way we live.
Not Just Wood! It’s You.🫵
