We have built several rustic tiny homes over the years. The following pictures are from a 16x20 off-grid tiny home that features a solar system for LED lighting and refrigeration, wood stove for heat, propane oven/stove, 6 ft porch overhang, elm flooring, pine T&G walls and ceiling, a carpeted loft, roughsawn pine for loft supports, center rafter and ridge beam, red cedar trim, pine cabinets and a red cedar countertop. The exterior board and batten is sawn from cottonwood.

An oft overlooked service that K&A Log offers is tree removal. Whether it is a storm or rot damaged tree or just a tree that is in the way, we offer safe, insured, licensed, and professional tree services. With over 27 years of experience cutting trees in 15 states, we have the equipment necessary to get the job done. A bucket truck with a 55 ft reach, chipper with a 12-inch log capacity, stump grinder and skid steers can all be utilized. One of the benefits that we are pleased to offer is zero waste. We do not take any part of a tree to a landfill. If the trunk portion can be sawn, it is used for lumber and slabs, the larger branches and low grade trunks are for biofuel and the smaller branches get chipped for mulch or animal bedding. The following is a montage of commissioned projects: Eastern red cedar and black walnut coffee table, mounted walleye coffee table, ash dining room table (sawn on our mill from trees that grew on the customers property), elm log outdoor furniture (that won't blow away!), and western red cedar raised garden beds.

This summer we completed a full restoration on Karen's Bar and Grill in Columbia, SD. We media blasted the entire structure, replaced a couple hundred feet of rotten logs, removed all the old chink/sealant and rechinked with Permachink(classic brown), restained it with Lifeline Ultra II (color: #870 hazlenut) and replaced the windows, doors and gutters.

We have done several rustic remodels lately. Tongue and groove knotty pine accented by red cedar trim is a favorite. The warmth and character of pine provides an enjoyable atmosphere to relax and enjoy family and friends. Tongue and groove with a high quality finish is extremely durable, easy to clean, and when all factors are considered, cost effective.
