Redneck Part Duex...made a jig to center mark each baluster end to drill a 1/8" pilot hole for a screen to hold each baluster in.

Laid out the balusters to be an hombre style from dark at the bottom of the steps to lighter at the top.

I love being a redneck! Made a jig to perfectly space/center the poplar balusters for the stair railing.

Building the heavy a&& as hell 12'x12'x24' carport for my backhoe and storage container. Tomorrow Kathy and I are putting on the metal roof...hopefully as almost 12' at the apex. Pic of the knockdown shed and 1931 house too.

Union, West Virginia...going to save the barn siding and metal roof for my woodworking shop...the rest of the barn is a$$. And, the Stetson is AWESOME! No more burnt ears, rain down the neck, and sweat soaked...I should have bought one years ago!

To my fellow vets...learning experience for you about VA Community Care:

1. If your civilian doc files a claim without your VA Referral number included, the VA will DENY it! $1480 MRI claim on my left-shoulder was dumped in my lap. No worries though, just call up the Community Care Billing toll free number and 15-mins later, all fixed. They even call the people who submitted the claim and tell them what to do and then the VA billing approves it on the spot while you are on hold. Kathy heard the whole call and results and was like "they so take care of you!"

2. When going to an appointment, have the office check-in person print off an appointment completion with date/time/letterhead and submit that when requesting travel pay reimbursement. I kept getting denied and their reasoning was so illogical (have to have VA Approval, which I do), the Keeene VA Clinic was like WTF when I showed them the deny reasoning. I Secure Messaged the VA Travel area and they printscreened the above info from a blurb they had somewhere. Truly lazy-a$$ bureaucrat BS that gives the VA a bad rap...don't put the REAL reason why but a cut and paste from a regular that isn't pertinent!

Please share with a vet you know...we need to share our knowledge and learn the ourselves so the next vet won't be swimming in an ocean of red tape governmental BS.

Back to the grind after 2+ weeks off. 1st coat of finish on the poplar register cover.

WOOOOHOOOO...WV IS FINALIZED!!! We signed all the paperwork, finalized the finishes, etc. yesterday. I wouldn't sign anything without a General Contractor being on board as, well, I'm obsolete now; as I've been out of the building trades for a loooong time. We met Randy last November after we went with Silverpoint Homes and needed to show them the property to see if the modular home was doable. We didnt know Randy was a GC then, and when we found out he was yesterday and was highly recommended, we wanted him on board...and he's on board today!!!

The second important thing today was meeting our neighbors for the first time. Chris and Charlene remind us of old friends! Their granddaughter Madison, lives next to them and is a great person as well. WV is going to be great.

We should be into our final Dream Home by my favorite holiday...Thanksgiving!

French Cleat. 2 pieces ripped to 45°, 1 board secured to piece other one attached to wall. Piece is placed onto the board attached to the wall and both pieces together hold/secure the piece to the wall.

Mesh is installed. Now, put it all together with the French Cleat too, final 180-grit sand and a couple coats of spar varnish. Then...move onto the NEXT Nike List item to build.

Register cover getting closer...now a LOT of hidden stuff to get the mesh attached and then the top and the French Cleat to hold it on.
