We've added a new project story to the Dark Horse Woodworks website, and we hope you'll check it out.

We call this one the PDL Place project, and it has some cool and unusual features. We hope you'll click through to read the full story, but here are a few design details:

—We used matte white acrylic from Premier Eurocase for the cabinetry.
—Dark Horse incorporated a unique metal laminate backsplash using material from REHAU’s RAUVISIO ferro line.
—We didn’t build the table pictured in the “eat-in” part of the kitchen, but Dark Horse did create a bench and a feeding area for the clients’ dog; the bench isn’t visible in the photos, but you can glimpse the opening for the dog area. (And the clients’ friendly dog made it into the photos, too, of course.)
—We used Blum soft close hinges and the Legrabox drawer system.
—Appliances are Sub-Zero/Wolf, Asko, and Sharp.

It was great to host fellow Cabinet Makers Association members for a shop tour at Dark Horse Woodworks today.

The tour was part of the CMA's lineup of activities for the International Woodworking Fair (IWF), one of the industry's biggest shows. It's always fun to have this huge event happening in our back yard, so to speak, and to have so many CMA friends in town.

Another Staffan Svenson designed modern completed in 2013 in the Oakhurst neighborhood in Decatur. Home was built by Kurt Ptacek and features walls of glass and hardie panel, white oak flooring and some really cool balustrades. Another well built home that continues to age gracefully. Landscape by Core Landscape has filled in very well also.

Other cool features include the cantilevered roof, wood ceilings, screened porches, a bridge that invites you in through the lush landscape and a cool Murphy bed by Dark Horse Woodworks. Modern on the outside and warm on the inside.

This lighted, painted shelving with leather backing turned out so great that we thought it was worth a repost heading into the weekend – what a great showcase for the homeowner's "spirits."
