Native to South Africa, Leucadendron thrives in our Mediterranean climate, bringing bold foliage, unique textures, and beautiful color to the landscape. Even better? Many varieties become more vibrant as temperatures cool, showing off rich shades of red, burgundy, gold, and copper.
A few tips for growing Leucadendron:
☀️ Plant in full sun for the best color.
🌱 Choose well-draining soil. These plants don’t like wet feet.
💧 Fall is a great time to plant! Water deeply after planting, then adjust your watering as cooler temperatures and seasonal rains arrive.
⚠️ Avoid high-phosphorus fertilizers and give plants room to grow naturally.
If your garden could use a little color through the cooler months, Leucadendron is worth getting to know.
