Holy freaking cow — how is it already February?! The first month of the year absolutely flew by here at BCD, and that can only mean one thing: we’ve been busy.
January had us firing on all cylinders, tackling everything from sleek custom railings and statement-making vent hoods to some seriously fun smaller projects — including handcrafted brass hors d’oeuvres, made entirely from scratch by Jayden. Whether it’s big or small, we love projects that let craftsmanship shine.
Our field crews have been deep in the middle of a massive custom staircase leading down to the lake — the kind with enough steps to make your legs sore just thinking about it. It’s a project that demands precision, durability, and a whole lot of patience, and the results are shaping up to be something truly special.
Meanwhile, our shop crew has stayed incredibly flexible, bouncing between the controlled environment of the shop and heading out into the world to install the beautiful things we create. While we love the consistency and precision of shop work, we’re just as comfortable bringing that same level of care onsite. And don’t worry — we don’t lose control once we leave the shop. We’ve been trusted inside countless fully finished homes, and we treat every space with the respect it deserves. When your project is ready, we’ll be ready too.
Which brings us to this time of year… anyone else craving a cozy fire on the back patio? Maybe paired with a warm hot toddy and good company? Winter evenings or summer nights — outdoor spaces don’t have an off-season if they’re designed right. Fire features, railings, custom metal details — we’re already dreaming them up.
If you are too, give us a shout. We’re fired up, the shop is humming, and we’re ready to help build your next dream winter or summer oasis.

What a freaking year!!!
2025 treated us real good. Mild summer. Lots of growth. Plenty of change. And somehow the shop just keeps rolling, learning, laughing, problem-solving, and building cooler and cooler stuff along the way.
This year brought us some truly amazing clients and partners — designers, builders, architects, friends — and we’re honestly just grateful people trust us with their ideas. It still blows our minds sometimes that we get to make this kind of work for a living.
But really… it’s our CREW that makes BCD what it is.
Metalwork isn’t easy. It takes brains, grit, humor, patience, and a whole lotta pride. Our folks show up every day and put their heart into the work — and we couldn’t be more proud of them. This place doesn’t move without them.
We also had new faces join, new systems, new tools, new lessons… and yeah, a few chaotic days in there too. But we embraced it and came out stronger, and we’re honestly pretty fired up for what 2026 has in store.
If we’ve worked together before — thank you. If we haven’t — well, reach out. Odds are we already have exactly what you’re hunting for in 2026.
We feel the love from y’all, and we hope you feel it back. Thanks for supporting this beautiful thing we do.
Have a safe and fun New Year’s. We’ll see ya in the next one!

Lunch break!!!!
The Brian Chilton Design crew stepped took some times today and headed out to Smokey Ridge for a BBQ lunch with the rest of the job site crew. Good food, good people, and time to hang with the other contractors who help bring these projects to life.
Days like this are a good reminder that the work is only part of it—the relationships, collaboration, and shared pride in the build are what really make a project special. Grateful for strong teams and sunny afternoons on site.
We hope y’all are having a great week!

A little over a month ago we hosted our first open house in our new space — Pinewood Derby style!! We were so happy to see everyone come by. We enjoyed pretzels and brats, seasonal beers, and of course, hand-crafted pinewood cars. We had two classes: “open class” and “by the book,” and let’s be honest… the open-class cars absolutely stole the show. We had everything from LEGO builds, to a screen-printing squeegee car from our neighbors at , to a full-on Miller Welder replica made by our very talented Poppy.
We had such a blast, and we truly can’t wait until next year! Looking back through these photos reminds us what warm weather actually feels like — us Texans can only take so much cold before we start dreaming of sunshine again. But don’t worry, we’ve got the heaters cranked up, the Christmas tunes blasting, and the shop buzzing with life.
Events like this really remind us why we love what we do: the community, the creativity, the families who bring their kids, the friends who show up to support, and the shared excitement of building something fun together. Thank you again to everyone who came out and made our first open house in the new space one to remember. Here’s to many more races, more laughs, and more good times ahead!

ITS THE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING!!
This time of year is always a wild one — people out of town, schedules getting shuffled, deadlines lining up right before everyone sits down for a big ol’ turkey dinner and some much-needed laughs. We’ve got Thanksgiving on the mind too, but from 7–5 we’re locked in: brass pivot doors, ultra-custom rails for a tree, new brass samples (you’ll have to wait and see), and all the problem-solving that comes with it.
We’re also stoked to have some fresh faces in the shop. Our recent hires have been seriously impressing us with what they bring to the table, and we’re truly grateful for them.
And while we’re on the topic of being grateful — we just want to say thank you. Thank you for the love, the support, the trust, and all the energy that keeps us fired up to bring great design and wild ideas to life. We really wouldn’t be able to do any of this without our team, our clients, and the folks in our industry who help us get it done.
Big week, big gratitude.
We hope you and your families travel safe, enjoy the time together, and soak up the holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving from us to you.

HAVE Y’ALL GONE OUTSIDE???? It’s soooooo nice out — Texas fall is here, and we’re soaking up every second!
Our teams have been hoods down and BUSY — on-site, in the shop, turning and burning. The crew has been growing, and the new folks are absolutely killing it! From pivot doors and staircases to drafting and assisting, they’ve been crushing it from day one. We couldn’t be more proud and can’t wait to see what they’ll blow us away with next!
We hope y’all are enjoying the weather and staying as busy as we are — but don’t worry, we’re never too busy. There’s always room for new projects, new ideas, and new collaborations. So if you’ve been dreaming up something special for the cooler months — maybe that outdoor fireplace hangout, a custom gate, or something completely out of the box — let’s make it happen.
Fall’s too good to spend inside. Let’s build something worth stepping out for.

THIS WEEKEND!!!
The time has come, y’all — beers, brats, and the smell of fresh pine! And no, we’re not talking about Wurstfest… we’re talking about the freaking PINEWOOD DERBY! We will be having beers from our long time friends and maybe other drinks and eats!
Come by our shop this Saturday from 3–6 PM for food, beers, and good conversation! Whether you’re a new face or an old friend, we’d love to have you.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about what we do, this is the perfect time. We’ll be giving shop tours, answering (probably more than) all your questions, and showing off what we’re capable of — plus how we push those capabilities when we have to.
We’re truly excited to see everyone on Saturday. Tell your friend, your mom, your dog — hell, bring them all! It’s guaranteed to be a good time.
See y’all then!

WE ARE HIRING!!!
We have work on work on work to get done, and we are looking for some really cool folks to come join our team. We are currently looking for installers, fabricators, drafters, and helpers at any experience level, full time! (And anyone named Kyle—we need to get our numbers up; we have three right now.)
If you or anyone you know is looking for an awesome place to work where work-life balance is valued, your hard work is seen and appreciated, and freedom to problem-solve and work through projects with others is highly encouraged, then look no further. We have over 75 combined years of experience in our shop, so you will have all the support you need—and you get a THREE-DAY WEEKEND.
We know how to dance, we’ve got people in bands, people who ride bikes for weeks, and folks who still hit the gym after putting in 10+ hours in the hot sun. We know how to work hard—but even better, we know how to play hard when the time comes (and it’s often).
We work Monday through Thursday, 7–5. If you would like to know more about these positions, please feel free to call us at 512-660-9204, shoot us an email at [email protected], or just reply to this post and we can get the ball rolling!
Hope y’all have a great rest of your week!
