I have died and gone to heaven. Oops no, that’s doing his stunt and me making sure he gets to the pearly gates during a fun day of shooting with the insanely talented stylist . Photoshoot days are the hardest days on the calendar but this dream team made it feel like we were raising the dead. After a 2 year hiatus I am feeling energized and ready to tackle so many fun projects.

This summer cottage will close up after the long weekend to prepare for the second phase of renovations. We are still having so much fun with color and carrying them into their kitchen renovation with the dabble of textiles and tile. It is always a privilege to be part of making spaces ready for their families. Wishing you all one last big weekend of family fun wherever you may be.

We are creating so many fun projects behind the scenes but we are taking a break today to spotlight one of my favorites- portraiture. I have so many clients ask me for references to great portrait artists that I am including just a few in this spotlight to demonstrate the wide spectrum of both mediums and styles. Portraits are a favorite because they appear to suspend time. I grew up around painters and portraits so I fear my love of this topic is innate. I am always happy to make introductions to artists I so enjoy working with in any field. After living through the last year I can’t think of any better time to capture those you love on canvas. Being a great story teller is a trait to be admired. I have not always embraced the story board for projects but when a beautiful young girl wants to see all the parts on a page we are thrilled to oblige (there are several pages). Great design is the measured doses of each component in a space. The board can make a teaspoon look like a gallon and vice versa. And just like baking a layered cake, when the icing is complete I can see on their faces that the sum of the parts is the beginning of their very own recipe.

Designing so many bathrooms currently and thinking back to this vanity that keeps it all tucked away. Sometimes what you don’t see is just as important as what you do. We added built in plug strips, pull outs and concealed medicine cabinets inside this project. Never having to plug and unplug every morning can be a game changer when it comes to clean up. 📸 styling

If as a child you loved hanging on the side of the pool to listen to the drain, wrote on a big chief tablet and the etch a sketch was your most impressive toy you’re in for a treat today. Artist life hack today talking about multi media artists. There are honestly so many artists I adore in this category but today talking about a few that are easy placements in the context of interiors. We will pick up with more landscapes soon but these are such fun artists I decided to jump around. Spring is on the horizon and these artists are instant energy. Link in bio Headed to today so follow along in stories for my favorite antique picks.

Let’s talk about art ba-beee.... so many clients seeking to add to their collections that I decided to do a life hack series on some of my favorite artists. My list is really long and varied but we are starting with landscapes because they tend to be the most versatile and “safe” investments for the home. Most people in fact will start with the humble landscape and then branch out into mixed media or still life and move onto impressionistic art scattered with some portraits. We are building the list as such. Most of the artists we will discuss over the coming weeks are those I have personally commissioned for clients, collected myself, or are on my wish list. And while we won’t really discuss how to hang or get started, I am always open to questions you might have about something I love so much. Art is personal and I encourage my clients to buy what they love and leave it to us to figure out how to make it work. Sometimes we walk into collections which drive the interiors but oftentimes we help put the finishing touches with new acquisitions. Bottom line it’s as important as pillows.
This is a snapshot of an all time favorite we are talking about this week . I can tell you I have left the gallery mentally drawing up interiors around his work. There are few works to sum up his use of light, color, composition and stroke. Enjoy this fun little escape. Link in bio.
