New coffee table design recently completed. Wanted to get more experience with charring wood (Shou Sugi Ban), and this was the first project that I've played around with bleaching. Was looking to achieve a nicely balanced contrast between the results of the two techniques. The top is a slab of curly Maple that had some subtle Ambrosia, as well as some pink-Ish red hues, and the bleach helped mute a lot of color, without sacrificing any curl visibility. In addition to charring the live edges of the slab, The base is also charred Maple, with Pine dowels that create a shelf for magazines and whatnot. To prevent ambering during the finish, I went with a water based finish, GF's High Performance in Satin. It was a fun project, I learned some things, and hopefully this will be a design that clients will place future orders for. This piece will be for sale on Etsy and our Website.

I'll have to get better pictures at some point, but here is the bookmatch dining table in its new home in Driftwood Tx. Rounded corners, charred live edges, custom curved steel bases, and a Satin ArmRSeal finish. Very excited for my client to share endless family meals atop this piece!

+Black Walnut with nice curl - $280 raw sanded to 180 grit, $500 finished with steel legs
+Curly Maple with Ambrosia - $200 raw sanded 180 grit, $420 finished with steel legs
+Butternut - $100 raw sanded 180grit, $320 finished with steel legs
Spalted Pecan cookie with epoxy topcoat - $300 finished, 400 with hairpin legs
