As the colors of summer begin to soften, native grasses quietly come into their own.

Shaped by Nantucket’s sandy soils, salt air, and coastal winds, they bring movement, texture, and structure to the landscape. Seed heads catch the changing light, while deep roots support the health of the surrounding ecosystem.

More than a seasonal flourish, they connect gardens to the rhythms of the island, creating landscapes that feel resilient, natural, and deeply rooted in place.

Grounded is more than how Cypress meets the land. It defines the relationship between the architecture and its setting.

A low-slung form and a palette of limestone, reclaimed wood, steel, and glass draw from the textures of the rocky shoreline and wooded hills beyond. Carefully framed views and seamless transitions between indoors and out further root the home in its landscape.

The earliest studies established the ideas that would guide Houston Oaks Clubhouse from concept to completion. Rather than focusing on individual rooms, the drawings explored how the building would be experienced as a whole, shaping arrival, circulation, gathering, and its relationship to the landscape.

As the design developed, those early intentions remained intact, resulting in a clubhouse where every space contributes to a shared experience.

Matthews reimagines an existing Austin home through the lens of heritage and place. Drawing inspiration from the timeless character of New York and London brownstones, the design pairs reclaimed materials with contemporary interventions to create a home that feels both rooted and distinctly modern.

Open, light-filled interiors strengthen the relationship between architecture and landscape, while layered materials and collected furnishings create spaces that are equally suited to everyday family life and entertaining.
