Hey everyone!
Long time no talk..
I've been thinking about what I would type in here if I ever deceided to log back in and to be honest I dont really know where to start but ill give it a go..
Many moons ago I moved to the Big city of Peoria from my little farm town for a job opportunity and found my self in the garage building stuff out of scrap wood more and more each night.
For several years I burnt the midnight and weekend oil growing something that became my entire identy and I LOVED it so much.
If i wasn't making sawdust fly I was nose deep in my computer learning how to make videos so I could reach more and more people online and be the guy everyone thought of when they had a project in mind.
Ive build hundred of projects, overcame so much adversity starting a small business with absoulety zero experiece but I knew I loved doing what the majority of my uncles have done before me.
Its a passion many wont understand that not only took so much from me but also made me feel whole for the first time in my life.
A few years ago I went to bed knowing in the morning I was ready to make a huge personal change in my life and that decision I made changed the whole trajectory of J.Him Woodworking.
With change always comes the need to adjust, you either speed up, slow down, level out or sometimes walk away. For me I got to the point where nothing mattered anymore. My shop became a "factory" where all that mattered was getting the next check so I could move onto the next project, rinse and repeate as needed.
Emotionally, financially and spiritually I was fighting for my life. Then one day I asked my self "Why are you doing this?" Whats the benefit and I couldnt find one.
So i decided it was time to let this last peice of the past go so I could truly move on with my new life I was building for my self.
My Uncle Eddy told me when I first started "You will bring alot of joy to people doing what you do!" and boy was that true..well most of the time. haha
All that to say thank you.
No seriously thank you to all the incredible people Ive met along the way. Supporting me in the most important, most meaningful mission I've ever been on.
After a year or so out from closing my doors Im still not sure what the future looks like for me but I hope it makes me as happy as woodworking did.
Much Love you all!
