Live Edge Coffee Table

A centerpiece that commands the room without shouting, this coffee table preserves the live edge while softening it into a gentle, inviting contour. Though crafted in this studio's own voice, the design nods to George Nakashima's Minguren II tables—honoring their balance of mass and air, their architectural bases, and the quiet authority of natural form.

Sculpted Chair

Designed for comfort and silence, this sculpted chair is shaped to support the body with subtle curves and long-wearing structure. Each joint is built to last generations, and every surface is hand-shaped to invite touch. While unmistakably crafted in this studio, the piece offers a quiet nod to George Nakashima's Conoid chair—echoing its interplay of sculptural form, grounded geometry, and the intimate connection between body and wood.

Burl End Table

A study in balance and presence, this end table pairs a richly figured burl top with a grounded, architectural base. The natural edges and organic movement of the burl are carried forward through clean lines and quiet joinery, allowing the wood's character to take center stage. While distinctly crafted in this studio, the piece offers a subtle nod to George Nakashima's Kevin End Table—honoring its interplay of mass and delicacy, and the way simple geometry elevates the beauty of raw material.

Walnut Spindle Bench

A study in contrast and rhythm, this bench brings together a live-edge walnut seat and hand-shaped ash spindles. The crest rail seems to hover above, connected through joinery that highlights the transition between materials. The design offers a subtle nod to Nakashima's Conoid series, honoring the angular structure and thoughtful balance that defined his work.

A look back at a favorite piece.

Some projects come together exactly as planned; others evolve as the wood reveals more of itself. This one was the latter—shaped by grain, proportion, and a few pivots along the way.

This piece represents what I love most about the craft: the slow, thoughtful process of letting the work become what it wants to be.

I built my first pieces back in 1979—helping my dad assemble a living room set and gluing thin oak plywood to a waterbed. Even as life took me into a different profession, the pull toward woodworking never really left. It stayed with me quietly, the way certain things do when they’re meant to return.

Today, my shop in Bellingham is where that early passion has come full circle.

I work slowly, intentionally, and without deadlines—building the pieces that feel worth making, one at a time.
