Giving a second life to pieces headed to the dump is a big part of what I love about this. Kids room? Guest room? Are these too wild to consider or do you think they’ll find a new home?

Anyone else have this bleaching problem? You know the one where you follow instructions?

Two things happened this week that have changed everything. My youngest went off to college and I’ve just left my job as CEO where I’ve worked for 13 years.

To most folks in my life, the career transition seems strange. Although a large part of my new world will be caring for my aging parents, the rest will be filled with furniture and projects that focus my very active brain. So yeah, career paused, new phase of furniture starting.

I knew this fb community of fellow tinkerers, restorers and makers would understand. ☺️

My husband found this on the side of the road. It was quite beat up. But once I took its measurements, I knew it could be something special.

Apparently three is only an odd number if you let it be.

The cane, chrome, warm wood, and a “Made in Italy” stamp underneath made these Vintage Cesca style chairs a quick flip. And a shoutout to my “apprentice” Chelsea who helped bring these back to life and sold them as a trio.

Falling in love with potential is a good thing when it comes to old furniture. This antique tiger-oak dresser had seen some things.

My ever-pivoting plan involved new pulls without making new holes. Finding a key that fit. Toning down the orange hue and giving it a dark moody frame for the different wood parts.

The construction on this piece was some of the best I ever worked with (it had to be to last over 120 years). The wear and tear on a piece like this doesn’t hurt the integrity, it only adds to the charm. I’m confident it has at least another century in it.

This pair of Mersman Mid-Century modern step-up tables got a new life. Do you think this style has a place in modern homes?
