I stopped in my local last week and there were so many things in store that I was obsessed with, but online has even more. Here are a few of my favorites❤️

Mood Board Monday is back! Welcome to Lily’s room. Think whimsical, garden party, fairytale. The goal was to create a room she could grow into, and furniture that could last into those fun teenage years that we all remember so dearly 😅😉In all seriousness though, how cute is this bookcase?!

Happy Monday everyone! This weeks project is what happens when she likes traditional, and he likes modern. You get ✨Transitional✨ A balance of feminine and masculine. Everything is selected with that scale in mind. Just imagine swapping the artwork, for something softer (watercolor landscape, or a line work of flowers) the scale begins to lean more feminine. Or if we selected a sofa with sharper lines and raised metal legs, it would instantly appear for masculine. There is an immense amount of thought that goes into selecting items for a room, and a mood board can only explain so much.

Organizing a playroom can be a daunting task. Even for someone who does it for a living. Which is why I have come up with a list of must haves. Before purchasing anything, you MUST go through and see what you really have, and what your child/children play with.

Tip #1 Try to get into a good habit of going through old toys before any holidays or birthdays. This will ensure you don’t end up with more than you can manage. If you walk into the room as an adult and feel overwhelmed, just imagine what it must feel like as a child.

Tip #2 Leave a balance of toys that are put away, and toys that encourage play/creativity. Most toys are out of site, out of mind. If they don’t know it’s there, they most likely will not reach for it. I recommend rotating these toys out ever so often. If you notice that your child is no longer asking for certain toys, this may also be an indicator that it is time to donate.

Tip #3 Set yourself up so everyone wins. When setting up a storage system, make sure to leave the lower levels for toys that your child can easily access, which also means they can easily put it away on their own. Higher levels should be used for toys that they need an adult for (paints, play-doh, games with smaller pieces, etc)

I thought this song was pretty perfect. This was a playroom project I worked on a few weeks back. With young kids, I think we all know it’s next to impossible to keep it organized, so bins makes it easy to pick up and hide away. We will be adding labels with photos to the bins to make clean up time a fun game 😉 I’ll keep you updated on how that works out…

Do I help people organize? Yes. Am I a human with a mediocre closet system? Also yes! Eventually I will be redoing this closet, but for now I have to work within my means, and with what I have. This gave me a better idea of what I’ll really need to utilize the space. This is also a reminder that life gets busy (especially during the holidays) and you aren’t the only one that shoves a bunch of random stuff in the closet when company is coming over. Or maybe this is just a reminder for me 🙃

Christmas decorating is in full effect over here! Knowing myself, I will probably move these a million times, but I’m ok with that.

When I first brought my decorations out, I thought to myself, “wow I really don’t have a lot, maybe I should go and get more” and then I checked myself.

I made a promise to myself to be more intentional with what I’m buying when decorating. In the past I would just see something I liked and that was enough for me. I think after working with clients and seeing how much a person can accumulate over the years, is what did it. In the end it just does more harm than good.

You really don’t need all of this “stuff” to feel the holiday spirit. The holidays can be overwhelming all on their own, let’s be honest.

My goal on this platform is to show people that you can still have a beautiful space without buying into all of the trends, and use what you already have. Which in the end saves you time, money, makes you feel better, and it’s also better for the environment. It’s a win for everyone.

I went down a wormhole today. A Pinterest wormhole to be exact. It was a crazy ride to see how my personal style has evolved throughout the years. At first I wanted to delete all of them. In my head I thought “nobody can know I thought THIS was stylish!”. Just full panic. Then I stopped myself because, 1. It’s hilarious, and 2. It shows how much style can change/recycle.

I remember who I was, and where I was when I pinned them. Sitting in my History of Interior Design class. First learning about Dorothy Draper, and her modern baroque ways. I suddenly became obsessed with banana leaves and bright bold colors.

Or getting inspiration for “The Loft Project”. Where I used a music box as my concept. Warm woods, brass, and metals (think the internal gears). It was one of my favorites.

And then some just make me want to die on the inside, like this Sparkle laundry room for example. It makes me want to slap myself across the face for even considering this to be ~Design~

So long story short, I will be keeping all of my pins.
