The mighty Northfield 24" planer. Feels even bigger with that 8" duct above it. Really excited to get this up and running along with the other 5 new Northfield machines. Incredible pieces of american manufacturing tradition.

It is going to be an exciting school year for our students with this major refresh in our Cabinet and Furniture Making program.

Had a wonderful night at Skinners Auction House here in Boston, speaking on a panel about this amazing collection being auctioned off. I was there representing and showing off the construction details of these incredible pieces.

It was a privilege to be asked to do this alongside experts in the art, history, and the most unexpectedly interesting aspects, the rugs!

Huge thanks to for the opportunity to have our students come down to their facility and get a close up look at the collection. It is such a rare opportunity to see and touch these historic pieces and learn about the construction.

Sometimes demos/samples get kinda fancy. This mahogany veneer has been around a while and was very not flat. Often if we don't use it for something, over time it just gets damaged beyond repair.
So why not use it in a demo/sample so students can see how to flatten figured veneer and lay it up on a traditional lumber core substrate!
Stringing added for the extra pizzazz.

Finished up a wonderful workshop Co-instructing with "The Unplugged Workshop".
Two weeks of handtool fundamentals, making Krenov style planes, and finishing up with a small box-like object. I made this tool tote to demonstrate some processes and techniques.

Packing up the handtools. Heading up to Co-instructing "The Unplugged Workshop with my good friend John Cameron.
Now to figure out how to get this all safely packed for the trip.. maybe I brought too much? Did I forget something?

Finally finished up these sea chest coolers for Quite a lot of engineering attaching to an irregularly shaped cooler and making the gas springs for the lid operate just right.
No more slamming cooler lids!

J. Becket and W. Webb were the captains of the original privateer Fame in 1812.
A sea chest was where a sailor would keep their personal possessions. It was generally wider at the bottom for stability and would have the owners name painted or carved on the front. Large becket handles on the sides for carrying.
