Moody, but warm. A matte black dining table with a graphic patterned runner gives this room instant depth, and the charcoal upholstered chairs carry hair-on-hide braid stripes down the sides for a little contrast. To keep all that dark cabinetry from swallowing the room, a rustic dough bowl full of succulents and ferns sits in the middle, doing the grounding. Dark dining rooms work. They just need one organic thing in them. Would YOU go this dramatic?

How to fit a king bed into a room that does not want one. Run a custom upholstered headboard panel wall to wall, then build the nightstands into it so they float and the sconces mount right on. Your floor stays clear, the room reads wider, and it looks like a good hotel instead of a crowded bedroom. Warm white walls, embroidered bedding, a houndstooth bench at the foot. Layered, not cluttered. Would you give up traditional nightstands for this?

Southwestern does not have to mean beige. This corner takes a prickly pear painting in hot pink and turquoise and hangs it over a sculpted metal console base, then pushes further with teal glass lamps, pottery, and a textured rug underneath. The neutral lounge chair is what keeps it from tipping over, and look closely at that one: leather lacing runs right up the outside edge. Bold color, balanced. Would you put these colors in your home? Tell us below.

Classic, made current. The Beckett Swivel and its matching ottoman are wrapped in buttery premium leather, with a softly tufted back that keeps it from feeling stiff. It swivels, which means it works in a corner without being stuck facing one direction. This is a chair for long books and longer conversations. Come put your feet up in Carefree, Monday through Saturday, 9 to 5.

Come stand in front of these. Three sculpted wood forms, each one mounted on its own pedestal like the artwork it is, showing off grain and burl that took decades to happen. The bench in front is a single slab with natural voids left in, set on hammered silver legs, and the silvered skull on the floor keeps the whole thing from getting too polite. This is the new sculpture gallery, and photos do not do it justice. Open Monday through Saturday, 9 to 5.

Proof that neutral does not mean boring. A tufted leather headboard against a textured mineral gray wall gives this room all the depth it needs, then matching wood nightstands and soft seafoam glass lamps keep it calm. Our favorite detail is the smallest one: a sleeping fox by Bryce Pettit resting on the bench at the foot of the bed. Would you do a textured accent wall in your bedroom? Tell us below.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of beautiful art, great music, good w**e, and even better company! Trevor V. Swanson drew quite a crowd, and we especially enjoyed having artist Amy Lay there to visit, share her insights, and chat with everyone about her work.

If you missed the fun, don't worry! The artwork is still here, and we'd love for you to stop by and take a look. We're open Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.

And mark your calendars! The next Carefree Art Night is the third Thursday in November. We hope to see you here!

Southwestern Style with a Modern Twist!

Who says desert-inspired design has to be all about warm, earthy tones? This beautiful bedroom takes a refreshing approach with rich indigo blues, soft grays, and warm wood accents that create a cozy yet sophisticated retreat.

From the plush upholstered headboard to the layered bedding and striking longhorn artwork, every detail brings together Southwestern charm and contemporary elegance.

We love how this space feels both inviting and luxurious without losing its desert roots!

What do you think? Would you bring bold blues into your bedroom, or do you prefer traditional desert neutrals?

Two days away, and a second featured artist to tell you about: Amy Lay. Her wildlife work sits right between real and loose, so a bear or a bird reads true from across the room and dissolves into brushwork when you step closer. It is hanging now above a heavily textured credenza in the showroom. Also on the walls: Brit Hansen with Lean into Me, Joe and Mary Axton-Giddings with Circulatory, and Rene Palomino with Prickly Pear. Trevor Swanson speaks at 5:15. Live music, w**e, and no reason to rush. Join us this Thursday from 4 pm to 7 pm.
