In the early 1900's, Chestnut Trees in North America suffered a blight from Cryphonectria Parasitica. This fungus killed so many Chestnut Trees that it created devastating economic and social impact on communities in the eastern United States. Today, a conservatation of about 2,500 chestnut trees are growing under scientific watchful eyes. This situation contributes to the many reasons why Chestnut wood is so valued, admired and sought-after!
