What is porcelain used for? A lot more than tile.

Large porcelain slabs stand up to heat, stains and sun, they never need sealing, and they're big enough to cover a whole wall with almost no seams. Our new post covers 8 places they work best: countertops, waterfall islands, full-height backsplashes, shower walls, vanities, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens and commercial spaces.

Dekton vs porcelain: what's actually the difference?

Both are fired at extreme heat, so they hold up to hot pans, sun, stains and scratches, and neither one needs sealing. The real differences are thickness, looks and price:

✔️ Porcelain: the widest range of designs (marble, stone, concrete, solids) and usually the better value
✔️ Dekton: thicker slab options, so you can get a simple edge with no miter

The guide also covers outdoor kitchens, chipping, what drives cost, and why fabrication matters more than the brand.

Grey veins or gold? :white_heart::sparkles:

Calacatta is the countertop look Charlotte homeowners ask us for most. Our new roundup sorts our favorite marble-look quartz slabs by style: soft whites, bold grey, warm gold, and printed quartz that looks like high-end marble. It also has tips on matching vein color to your hardware and planning seams on a big island.

Quick question for anyone planning a kitchen: Team Quartz or Team Quartzite? 👇

We hear it every week in our showroom: "Aren't those the same thing?" Not quite!

🔹 Quartz is engineered from crushed quartz and resin. You get consistent color, it never needs sealing, and spills wipe right off. Just keep a trivet handy for hot pans.

🔹 Quartzite is 100% natural stone cut from the earth. Every slab has its own veining, it handles heat, and it holds up outdoors. It needs a seal at install and a reseal now and then.

Both make beautiful, durable countertops. It really comes down to your style and how you use your kitchen.

Tell us in the comments which one you'd pick, or stop by and see both side by side. In our slab yard you pick the exact slab that goes in your home.
