🌟 Highlighted Artist of the Week at Real African Art Gallery 🌟
Meet Sekesayi Mangenda, a gifted Zimbabwean stone sculptor born in Nyanga, Manicaland, in 1973. Coming from a family of talented sculptors, Sekesayi began mastering the art of stone carving in 1990 under the guidance of his brothers, Fungai Mafuwu and Farai Mangenda. By 1994, he had established himself as an independent artist known for working with hard stones such as Verdite, Butter Jade, Leopard Rock, and Springstone.
His remarkable sculptures capture human figures, busts, heads, and animals, reflecting the beauty and tradition of Zimbabwean stone artistry. Beyond his craft, Sekesayi is passionate about mentoring young artists and preserving this cultural art form for future generations.
