Our final Hometown Hero we would like to recognize is Ed “Duffy” Gardner. Ed is a proud Navy Veteran who served as a Commissaryman 3rd Class during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1970. During his service, Ed’s mission was to make sure his fellow servicemen were properly fed as he was responsible for preparing and serving meals. Fifty years later, he continues to serve those around him. As an active member of the Glenn Maker American Legion Post 1160 in Chicago Ridge, he always looks for ways to give back to his community, including attending local food drives and pantries to gather food for those who need it.
