It’s been a while but I decided to jump back into refinishing a piece of furniture that’s been in my garage for a while. One of my oldest friends has an old nightstand that’s been in her family for years … it needs some repairs, a good cleaning and a new paint job …. but she’s going to have a new house soon and I’d like to get this piece finished.

Stay tuned to see how it turns out. .diy.and.home

NEW BUILD ALERT … raised planter for deck.

Did anyone catch my stories yesterday? I have this vision of being a master planter with a large crop of fresh strawberries, mint, and basil … and it all starts with this planter.

But seriously, this is a project I wanted to take on last year and didn’t do it. So I made it a mission for yesterday. After I had the materials, the entire thing only took about 1 1/2 hours to build. I still need to add the liner and fill with my crops (lol) but at least it’s now in position and ready!

All stories are still there and saved under New Builds up top.

So I just realized I posted several stories last week on updating my daughter’s bedroom and refreshing her dresser… Which have all since expired. 🤷‍♀️

But …. I never showed the finished room or updated dresser. Here’s the dresser. She picked the color, and I love the way it looks. It turns out she has a good eye, because I think it looks great. All it needed was a good cleaning, sanding, couple of coats of paint, and a nice poly layer to protect it. I also replaced the pulls.

Swipe to see the before picture. I’m already onto my next project. Follow along to see what’s next. .diy.and.home

Project Bedside Table complete.
I don’t know if you watched any of my stories this week, but I documented the work that I put into this simple bedside table for my daughter. if you’re interested, a few of the stories are saved under the new build section in my profile.

I bought the box a few weeks ago out of half inch plywood, but it had been sitting in my workshop since then. So I wanted to hold myself accountable and really work to get it done because she was had been waiting for a little while. I even offered to buy her a bedside table and she said “no, mom I want one that you made.” so it’s done and she seems happy.

Now, if I can only get around to finishing the board and batten and wall paint, her room makeover will be done.

This girlie’s bed is DONE! I wanted to do more in her room… so did a shelving builtin and board and batten. Who in their right mind starts these projects the week before Christmas??
Now time to finish painting, clean up the mess and show it off. Just in time for grandma to arrive tomorrow for Christmas!

Happy Monday! I’ve been quiet here for a few days… but I began a new project over the weekend and finally started my daughter’s bed! She currently has a cheaper bunk bed but I have visions of building a bed with a trundle. And the best part?? She wanted to help. So I jumped on that. We talked about measuring, cutting, pocket holes. When it’s all done, I hope she is proud of what she helped build.

Headboard is done. Next comes footboard and figuring out the trundle. Scraps will become a matching nightstand.
